i joined this board a while back, and i have just got around to getting the brakes worked out on this 86 shelby charger.
anyway,it has 140,000 miles on it,and runs and drives really good. it sat idle for a couple of years, and that was hard on the brakes. so,i replaced the master cylinder, pads, and bled out all the brakes, now we have whoa!!.
had some light issues, and now have all those fixed.
i installed a vacuum/boost gauge, some new plugs, and took it for a spin. now, this car is stone stock, still has the cat, stock exhaust and muffler,no mods of any kind.
i noticed that the power loss light doesn't work on the dash,so i am not sure how to look for codes, the car runs good, though it has a slightly rough idle.
anyway,my first impression of this car,is it runs strong, when i hammered down on it,i was shifting it at 5000-5500 rpm,and the boost gauge was showing 9 psi,and holding there with out fluctuation. is that normal? is that where the stock TI setup boosts at?
i am going to upgrade to TII setup,i have a 1-piece intake,89 2.5 T-1 injectors and fuel rail/reg. an 86-87 GLHS computer and logic module,TII exhaust manifold,TII throttle body, and i will do the housing mod to my turbo housing,to allow use of a big, saab intercooler i picked up.
what else will i need, and what about a manual boost control?
how much boost will this setup produce?
is 15-17 psi boost possible, without shucking parts?
any help and advice/opinions is greatly appreciated.
thanks.
