TODD all the vacuum lines are original i just cleaned them all up and restored the friction tape wrapping where necessary.

coils of OEM-style vacuum tubing can be purchased from McMaster-Carr its 5/32" dia hard plastic. you can go to their website and search it out.

the cold fact is that none of these 86S cars are really worth a ton of money. i'd rather have a fun hobby car like a glhs than the few measley dollars they might fetch.

sounds like standard operating procedure for 99% of the turbo dodges. i got just shy of 20 grand into mine at this point.

then again, you could shell out 90 grand for a new Viper, own/drive it for two years, and it would be worth about 50 grand......40 grand for two years use? makes restoring a turbo dodge appear smart.

^thanks. well i dont do this for a living of course not but i would be happy to help w/ any advise. the total process is not at all difficult or even that expensive if you do it yourself, its more a matter of hundreds of small tasks, the hardest part being the striping and prep of the sheet metal underhood. I spent about 200 hours just on paint prep for the underhood sheet metal areas. i think spending the extra effort to use abrasive blasting media for paint prep is the way to go underhood due to the nooks and crannies that must be prepped.

one thing that you should be aware of: maintenance. if you choose to go this detailed, and you want to drive your car, you will need at least 1 hour of cleaning for every hour on the road to maintain the appearance, and it's a real pain in the butt. If you drive the car in the rain routinely I'd skip this whole idea as that type of driving will destroy the detailing. so think about that chore before going forward.

I think it's great how you did such a fantastic job and you didn't pull the motor!

My "S" doesn't see rain and hasn't seen the road since 2006 so there's no problems there. But yes you're right, a lot of maintenance to keep a car looking that nice, even if it doesn't get driven at all.

you really dont need to pull the motor to get a good job, and leaving it in place really simplifies the project if there's no other reason to remove the engine (like an engine overhaul for example).

sounds like your S is a great candidate for this kind of work, so will you be pulling the trigger?

do you have any pix of your car & engine bay that you can share? r-u in NE-SDAC?

I probably won't be doing it this year, probably next year. I'm putting the finishing touches on my Masi set up right now.

I don't have any recent pics of my S car and no I'm not in NESDASC. I am just around the corner from Baker though.
