The VIN tells me that it is a Shelby Z. Whats wrong with the wheel and VC? Its not a "true" Shelby car as no Daytonas ever were so it wont have a Shalby wheel and VC if that what you mean.....

Only the Shelby Whittier Plant/Numbered cars(87-89 CSX, 86-87 GLHS, 89 Dakota, 87 Lancer) cars have those

That could be one way to say it. But, that car has a better motor than the numbered "Real" Shelbys. The numbered 87 and 88 cars started life with a TI 2.2 block and had the goodies added to them by Shelby. The TII Daytonas started life with a 2.2 engine with forged stuff inside. The reason the numbered cars didn't have this stuff is Shelby started with existing cars and made changes. The Daytona is a "Shelby" addition and will have stuff other Daytonas never came with. Like the 555 tranny, intercooled 2.2. So, the car is still a great car to own. This is also the reason there's not a lot of Shelby valve covers around. They get spendy on ebay. So do the "Shelby" steering wheels.

No, they are Shelby inspired cars. As for the better motors claim, that's only true for the '86-88 cars, the exception is the '89 CSX. IMO they are every bit as Shelby as the others, they just weren't modified at the Shelby facility in Whittier. Remember CS was playing with an awd Daytona. There really isn't much difference between them.

The engine in the 86-88 Shelby's aren't much to be excited about(stupid press-in wrist pins ). There are several little things that stand out on a Shelby numbered car and a Shelby logo car.

Have to make a correction here. The 1986 Shelby GLH-S did NOT come from Shelby with the Shelby valve cover. You see a bunch of them with them installed on them but the silver Chrysler turbo valve cover is what is supposed to be on it. This is a common misconception on the Omni's from Shelby. That is a sweet looking Shelby Z though.

the 86 had a special valve cover... Only one that had a Mobil1 plaque on it from the factory. But your correct, no SHELBY valve cover.
