Hi, i'm new around here, and i didn't really know where this would fit, except those in this section might know more. I'm in the process of fixing my 87' daytona shelby, (low end knock,:( ) and checked the VIN on the title (car is on a lift atm, didn't check in car) and the eighth position digit, which should be the engine code, is an A. I checked two service manuals and there is no "A" listed. I bought it from a dodge lover, and it does have a turbo II with the odd shaped shelby oil pan.... I would appreciate any info anyone can give me. (Ps the knock is kindof a whabababababam, that isn't very loud or bad at low rpm's....but gets worse when i move the car, ie, driving to the lift.)

What is the vin? And what do you mean by "odd shaped oil pan"?

BTW, welcome to the site, and ask any questions you may have.

the vin is 1b3ba64a(<thats the one)ohg32***..... but it doesn't matter... dropped the oil pan today and i guess the knocking was because my engine had turned my #4 rod bearing into ity bity pieces of scrap metal and scored the journal pretty bad....a new crank and such is only like 140...but with the pieces of bearing in oil system i'm ****ed. no way around it without pulling the motor and having some serious $$$ dropped into it. so much for an original shelby z.
