Last Saturday I picked up a 87 Shelby Lancer #447 from a junkyard. The car isn't too bad, it has some rust in the quarters and fenders. For right now I'm going to road/drag race it as soon as I get the car back to running again. It's missing the typical Shelby stuff, like all of it. The lower engine and automatic transmission are still there but the head/turbo/intake/intercooler/radiator/airbox are missing. And the front leather seats are gone as well. But at least all the running gear is there! I bought the car for $200, I don't know if that's a good deal but I figure I can have alot of fun with it."thumbs up

I'm glad you took the initiative to rescue the car. Is that the car that Jesse once owned?

Yup, Jesse told me about it when I went to that Delano Dodge car show. I just couldn't take parts off of it. It seemed like a huge waste to let that car get crushed. Plus I thought it would be cool to play around with that car and keep #800 bone stock."thumbs up

I'll have to take some pictures this weekend. Everytime I get home from work it's already/almost dark! Stupid day lights saving time!

What salvage yard did you pull that car out of? Car looks decent from the outside with all ground effects intact. I really like the Shelby Lancers and that one looks pretty nice for being in a salvage yard.

The salvage yard was down in Winstad area, about 10 miles south of Howard Lake if that helps.

RJ138, glad to hear your car is running good, never did make it over to your place, next year I'll have to meet up with you to check out your R/T.

Excellent Save. The body looks pretty nice in those photos. It would have been a crying shame to have let that one go through the crusher.

The Spirit is sitting in storage now and I might end up doing a head gasket and some other things this winter. Yeah I really want to see that Lancer of yours up close. I saw it from a distance when I was driving by Champion and that thing looked sweet. We will have to meet up next year along with some other locals.

I'm not sure if I read this thread correctly so please correct me if I have something wrong.

This was Jessie Buhr's (the exhaust guy) Lancer that he stripped and sent to the j/yard?

If so does he still have the unique Shelby parts so you can put the Lancer back together?

If he doesn't have the unique Shelby parts it might be pretty expensive to purchase the parts on the used market. If you could find a wrecked or rusted out S/Lancer that may be a good way to fix the car up.

Out here in California it's very difficult to get a car out of a yard once it's in there. And even if you can get it out it must receive a salvage title because it was in there.

Hopefully your state doesn't have that mandatory salvage title rule.

Good luck with her.
