Well, the Chicago Tribune Met me at the track Tuesday for a quick look at this mini van thing. I did not really have any neat words of wisdom for him, (like "one step away from full castration", is words for a bumper sticker!)
As usual, spent 30 minutes in tech, found out my helmet had expired safety (been too long guys) but they let me race any way.
First run, ran 13.4 at 102, sputtered real bad all through first gear, at first (has not been floored in a COUPLE OF YEARS!), but shifted to 2nd, she cleared up, and beat a Dodge Dart 340 (14.6@91)
Second run was against a 1995 LT1 Impala SS, with Dubs. I ran a 12.9 at 102+. (he went 14.9@91) The Tribune was most interested in interviewing the people that I raced for their comments.
Very fun, kind of a informal thing, the reporter just stood around and watched, took lots of pictures tho, and I dont see them. It is supposed to be in the printed paper also, maybe today? I dont get the Tribune so I dont know.
Felt good to get out and race again! Van is not right, I hit the 102MPH top speed at 1000 feet. It just leveled off and stopped acceclerating, holding speed at 102. I figure cam timing is off
Anyway, i will keep checking this board for a few days, and may try to get to the Nats this year.... Maybe
