Hello boys and girls...Germany's favorite American war hero just got back from the 2nd MOPAR meet at "Auto Scholz" in Bamberg last weekend. Here is the after action report:

Of all the Cars I have, I decided to take my TII Daytona (89 Shelby) to the meeting. reason? Overcast, and windy and c-o-l-d! So, no drop top Barin weather. The red 91 isnt insured, so it stayed as well. Yep, May, and I needed a jacket! (German weather ist SCHEISSE!) I rolled up, got my parking assignment, and was situated between a Jeep CJ-7 all jacked up and "mudded" out, and a Jeep Grand Cherokee.(This Soiree was sponsored by a MB, Chrysler,Jeep ( Dodge) SMART,Porsche,Renault) Dealer in Bamberg Germany.)
I get parked, put my bizness cars on my Car, and take a stroll. Total number of cars: +/- 60, Number of Turbo Dodges? Myself, and 4 SRT-4's, all driven by young US soldiers.(There were 3 plain jane, Euro spec Neons there, but I didnt count them) Of the SRT-4s there, one was maxed OUT! race slicks, had all the "Turbo toys" options, nice body kit,the kid sank all of his "one year in paradise" tax free Iraq combat-zone money into it. I went over and asked him if he had anything against signing the car over to me if he gets zapped on his next tour...(his blank stare of disbelief brought an evil smirk to my face!)

Note: This is "Gallows humor" that can only be shared by, or understood by Combat vets...

Of all the "old school" TD's that were EVER built, yours truly was "representin"! I was the only "old school" TD out there.I had Blackie all buffed out and open for show.
What I was NOT ready for, was the unbelievable amount of non Chryco cars that showed up: One Cat in a pimped out E-36 BMW,Lambo dors, killer stereo and stripper club gal pal in the co-pilot seat came, some dude in a Chevy pick up truck, and even 4 Camaros from a German Camaro club! (WTF???)

I asked my co-pilot "What do you think all the Beemer freaks will say when I roll up at the next BMW meeting, and ask where I can park my Daytona"? It was a question asked by many on that $hitty weather weekend!

I was driving the 2nd oldest Dodge at the show...oldest accolades went to a dude that looked like the singer "Unkle Kracker", driving a Dodge Dart GT. Needed paint, but sounded "ok". He was a nice guy...came up and slobbered all over my Daytona...(I let him kneel, kiss my ring, and then I sent him away...)

The SRT-4 dudes, they wouldn't come over and talk to me...they saw my German tags on my car, and assumed that I was German. (Since most Soldiers dont take the time to learn German, I guess they were just shy...)Or, maybe it was me asking one of their buds if he would sign his heap over to me if he gets it next time downrange...either, or!

Day went by with THE worst rap DJ in the history of the universe on stage. Black guy, that couldnt speak a LICK of German, but was hamming it up to the delight of that "certain kind" German chick that is into that sort O'thing.

Got colder, windier, wetter...just perfect Car show weather. So I slipped into the Mercedes Dealership across the parking lot, sat in a new SL 500,sipped a great Cappucino, and was wondering "Would they take a check for the SL?" (a Post dated one naturally...)

Highlight of the day....

I chit-chatted with one of the lead reporters from Germany's "Chrom ud Flammen" (Chrome and Flames). Its the only mag that shows US cars over here, and they lean kinda MOPAR way...he came, and asked me (gulp!) if I would like to have my TD's featured in the Magazine! (I was a bit taken aback...) so I said "Uh, yeah, ok... I guess!"

So...if my heaps show up in Chrom und Flammen...either I will have to link ya'll to it, or, if I can post pics here one day, I will scan some pictures...

So...I stuffed a Taco down my neck, got my stuff, and I headed back to Schweinfurt...Generator belt now disentegrating, flapping, all the way home. (made it!). Oh, the great sounds, of Dodges, waking up from winter sleep!

Thats it...stay tuned!

Hey ESKI! Cool! You have a Daytona RT or one of those butt ugly Spirit RT's? Yeah, I was the only Daytona there, got plenty of ooohs and aaahs, especially when they saw on the Cars Title that the car had turned 17 that day!!

If you are down with IFOR/SFOR/KFOR (Whatever they are calling themselves these days...) try not to gain TOO much weight eating American rations, or trip over a tent rope (since its pretty calm down there these days...) and come up for a meet this summer!

Hey... silver r/t is not butt ugly...

No more IFOR/SFOR, we are now called EUFOR. KFOR is in Kosovo. I am already so bored with american food that I can't wait to be back home and eat real food But few rounds over camp keeps weight where it should be.

I don't think that I have enough time in this summer but maybe next, if somebody reminds me..

They should be calling it all "WHYFOR"!!! (As in "Why for we got troops still there?") Hell there aint no more Kosovo ALbanians down there any more ANYway! (They are all in Stuttgart and Nurnberg!)

Well, hang in there, and stay away from Anthonys Pizza! Its been the downfall of many a man!

OOOOOrrrah! ALL THE WAY!

Well.. If we take that line, I do have some words from US soldiers who are from Texas.. After they leaved we got people from NG and they are good guys. I have had many good times with them in Finnish mess. There was "some" beer included.

Anthonys Pizza.. no good words and Burger King is something like that we rather drive 300km to nearest McDonalds

Man, I kinda miss being stationed in Germany, I spent 5 years there. Anyways. check out this site... www.Fbodyeurope.org its a F body site sure, but they have alot of drag racing and autocross events. Lots of cool guys there, mostly american, but lots of Germans as well. I used to roll with them alot when I was over there (Ive got a 96 Z28 if you hadnt guessed).

Used to be (when I was enlisted) a Border Scout, later as a Cobra and OH-58 Scout pilot, was a Border Surveillance Pilot in the Cav. Fought in Combat as a Cobra driver with 1-1Cav (Americas oldest, highest decorated Cavalry regiment) in the "Big one" (Gulf War/Desert Storm...you know, the one we won!) Scouted/patrolled/raided up to 90 km ahead of the Division back then...

Delta Troop "Dirty deeds done dirt cheap" call sign: Sabre 13
When I flew the HHT Huey (long story why I logged "C" time in 2 birdsback then) was: Headhunter 13

SCOUTS OUT!
