well .. i have thought for a long time, and still do, that no one person can lead the florida group for very long... we are so spread out and whatnot, that it is hard to keep tabs on everyone, and to keep everyone in the loop. for instance, i for one have moved over to the "other" forums now for the most part so i dont check here very often.

on the positive side, loks like the stars may be lining up and a new job is in the works, meaning i will have EVERY weekend off instad of every other and that would make it much easier for me to make it down there for meets. if only we had something for all you guys to come up here and do in jax, then i'm sure me, chuck, mike and the others here could set up something .. but alas, this town is overly dull... heh.

but back to the original reason for this post. i'm all for kj, bill and rick and anybody else stepping up to spearhead this group. but i think it is simply too large of a job for any one person right now, at least until we are better organized.as for kevin, i personally cany blame him for being mia .. afterall, this is a hobby and not a job. some things are more important .. and for most of us, lots of things are more important than planning and setting up events, motivatiing a large, diverse and seperated group into attending said event and doing so without too much feedback from the majorty of members.

as for attendance .. i thik we need to set up a regualr thing, instead of trying to do something new or different every couple months .. we need to start with something simple and easily accomplished ... much like the bar-b-q in lakeland we had. set a date, time and place ... decide everything ahead of time ... and then .. three months later, do it again. in those three months, let whatever pops up, pop up, if it turns into a mini meet, great ... if not, no worries. but i think if we can get something in the books that we can point at and say .. "We meet here, on the second weekend of every month." or every other month or every third month .. whatever the case may be ... that it shows we have some established ideas of what the heck we are doing.

..

i guess thats all the rambling i can stand right now .. heh .. if any of you would like to discuss this further ... feel free to email me or im me on aim ...

incurabledisease at gmail dot com is the email ...
rejectify is the aim name

The cookout idea sounds Great, I'll bring some cases of cokes, Dr.pepper and Brisk icetea for everyone.

A once every two or three months meet sounds good too, The only problem would be where to set it up at.

One thing i'm not into is the whole leader/organizer thing. It would be to much of a hassle for one person to try to get everything together and such. We just need to decide what we are going to bring, if a cookout turns up, then who is bringing food, grill etc.

One of many things that plague a group like ours is attendance. I think we had a great turnout in Lakeland for the BBQ. But since then we have had a couple of meets at different places and had mediocre turn out at best. Having the same 4 or 5 people or less show up is a little disheartening. Even I have lost some enthusiasm in having to plan something and have nobody show.

So that was all the negative that you will here me say. Like Kevin said, this is our group. What do we want to do? A couple of suggestions popped up on this forum. I like to do many things. I like car shows, drag racing, driving schools at road race tracks, bbq's, restaurant meets and just plain cruising in my car.

I can only claim one good event and a couple of not so good ones. It is someone else's turn to plan something. I will be there. Unless something way beyond my control comes up.

On a side note: I talked to Kevin the other day and he said he is working on his car again and hasn't given up on our little group. He works in real estate so he can pretty busy on a weekend.

well guys im all for another lake parker meet (or whatever you guys wanna do), but it was great, tons of cars showed, nice shaded area, and plenty of parking. the only issue with a cook out is whos fronting the money for a cook out.

i also agree that having one person running the club is not enough, we need a couple people on top of it. and im willing to step up to the job. im not trying to steal it away from Kevin, but i dont know how else this club is gonna move forward. i wouldnt want to try to run the club myself though.

OK well, guys you want this lake parker meet to happen we all have to decide on a date for it, and whos going to attend, also who is gonna bring what. and what all we need to bring. so far Dez offers to bring the drinks. and Lynx853 is gonna bring some patties. what else do we really need? buns, rolls, paper plates, utensils, napkins, chips, what else?

I think a poll needs to go up for the 4 Sundays in June. And keep in mind the 18th is Fathers Day. Make my kids do what I want

I would like to attend as well. I'm not too far from most of you. I can bring food or do whatever to help out. Please keep me updated. Thanks
