After 2 years I finally got the Omni to the dyno. We were only able to do basic tune to 10 psi as we had many problems and only had 10 inch wide slicks to use. We did 310 h.p. at 10 psi, with a good tune and normal street tires 350 h.p. at 10 psi should be easy enough. I got a lot of work to get it straightened out by SDAC.

No problem Cory. I'll be tearing into the tire shake/bounce problem soon. I have a suspicion they machined my hubs off centered.

They'd have to be off quite a bit. How much of a shake are you getting? They are actually bouncing? Maybe they were balanced wrong...or your axles have issues (even though I assume they are new HD pieces)

They are horrible, bouncing 1-2 inches on the drives side and 1 inch on the passenger side, you needed two hands holding tight or it would shake the wheel out of your hands. We swapped tires out and still had a shake. Rebalanced them and the rim looked perfect on the balancer. My axles are new HD units, I cant see those being the culprit, if they could what to look for? I watched them as I spun them by hand and they looked good. The rim spun very nicely on a balancer, but on the balancer its hub-centeric and on the car its lug centric.

Tonight I put a magnetic mount dial indicator on the front strut and put the indicator pin on the top stud and read high point on the gauge (.063) and rotated the hub and measured each high point on each stud they went anywhere from .061 to .070. I wonder if this slight difference would be magnified the further from the center out. Also I still need to check to make sure the 5 studs are properly centered around the hub and not all off centered. The alignment may also be way out as it hasnt been aligned either. I will bolt the rim back on and put the indicator on the edge of the rim to check as well.

Im certainly open for ideas.

I'd say .010 is alot. Maybe check your R/T and see what the runout is. How are centered? using the hub. I know years ago, I had an old 78 Civic with mags and it would shake like a mofo, the wheels hadn't been machined properly so they were off center,

The rotors appear to be hub centric and the wheels are lug centric.

With the car up in the air, I pulled the rotor, still bounced, pulled wheel spacer, still bouncing, I will rebalance tire and have a tire dismounted and spin the rim and a freshly balanced tire and see if it doesnt go away. if not that leaves the machined hubs are no good..

I bashed my head against a wall with a similar situation a few years back. We checked tires then wheels. It turned out that the wheel balancer was way out of calibration. This was a manual spin balancer without the motor. It never got up to high enough speeds to bounce on the balancer. Just another idea if nothing else pans out.
