Hey! glad I came across this thread. I'm trying to get my car done for this upcoming season. First race on May 10th. Its a 98 Ford ZX2. Basic class requirements are a FWD 4cyl. No turbo/supercharger. And No V-tech. Its left open to DOHC/SOHC. Car must remain totally stock! Mainly engine/suspention/tires must be street. Well with the exception of a roll cage and all the safety goodies. Dash must remain intact too. The guy that kept beating everyone last year was a late 80's probe. I think this will give him a run for his money. haha! Feel free to check my progress out.

Raced a 2.2 Charger on the dirt and was unbeatable for 3 years and then had to convert to pavement when the local track was shut down. I then built up a 83 Shelby Charger and ran the pavement from 1999 to 2006 in the IMS series before I finally started to look to autocross and road racing and sold the car... Solid and very fast cars once you figure out the handling and there's loads of spare parts at the wreckers.

I built a dirt track neon. IT was a running and driving 5 speed DOHC neon. Gutted the entire thing, put steelies on it, cut the exhaust before the cat, removed all the glass (except windshield), and dropped a racing seat in it. WOrked decently

I think I payed about 400 for all the tubing. Its being built to just about NASCAR standards. Far and beyond the class requirements. My boss has a small ratchet style bender. And a notcher from Harbor Freight. Its only tacked in right now. We're actually going to hire somebody to come in and weld it. Since I can't modify anything this. The cage is kind of the masterpiece of the project.
