I'm looking for FWD Circle Track Racers.

Are there any on the TD Board ?

Where are you racing, What kind of car are you running, What areas are you having success and what areas are you facing obstacles ?

I'm looking to build a braintrust of FWD Circle Track racers where we can gather and share information on our G-Body/K-Body/L-Body cars.

i am building a circle track car for the up comming season, this will be my first season at doing circle track. i am building an 86 dodge daytona, 2.2 carb with 525 5 speed. not many other mods due to the class we will be running in. i have gotten the cage in, brakes and motor stuff done but still have to redo the suspension. we have a few months to get her ready so i am not having to rush at the last minute. this will be my first season but deffinitly not the last, i have wanted to do this for years and finally got the chance. the track is southside speedway in southside richmond, va.

i plan to do this as well...... just havent decided on the car to use...... i finally have the time again...... i used to race an 85 omni at our local track but they shut it down a few years ago......... it was completely gutted.... i swapped in the drivetrain from a carb shelby charger from a jy and the brakes and suspension.... haha no one ever figured it out..... i won quite a lot of features with it and the track championship 2 years straight....... unfortunately when the track closed down i had no where to race it so i sold it to a local.... he actually still runs the car in tennessee...... keep us up to date on progress

we will be racing on a 1/3 mile oval, pavement. best thing is i will be able to get off work a little early on fridays and the track is only a couple miles away from the shop. we have an alignment machine and will be able to set the car up each time before we race so i'll help with any info i can as far as setup, as long as you are not running against me.

I drove a friends Cavalier a few times last year for our local tracks bare-bones Crazy Compact racing. Not a TD, but given that the Cavy is far and away the most popular car in the group, I can tell you that an Omni or Shadow will dominate easily. All base models, all automatics, no power enhancers or suspension mods. Mandatory 6 point cage with an intrusion bar and 5-point harness.
It was more of an excercise in frustration, the track simply isn't large enough to get a low powered econobox up to speed, and the number of cars means you are getting hit CONSTANTLY. They are apparently going to some kind of A/B/Main arrangement this year, so it is pretty popular.

AV -- I was at Columbus this year for the big end of the year invitational. Great race, by buddy finished 3rd and his team mate finished 13th/14th.. Great group of folks there and nice little track. I think a whole bunch of these street racers are missing the boat when they don't try circle track. By the way, I have a great, great speed tip for you with a Dodge on a 1/4 track.. pm me.

our track here in southside richmond va is only for us manufactured cars, is that the way it is at other tracks? thank god it is here because i think the ricers would kick the crap out of us us made cars, we are supposed to stay stock and our cars are 20 years old. also limited to sohc and no more than 3 valves per cyl. must stay with drive train from that year make and model. i just thought about it, was the daytona ever offered with carb even in mexico? i put carbed motor in it, hope they don't give me any crap in tech about it.

Scotty... i find the rules vary quite a bit from track to track. My home track has a SOHC/2V rule.. but then they allow the NEONs who are dominating the track... but keep out Probes and anything not GM/Ford/Mopar. I'm building a carb'd motor for my Daytona as well. We need to talk about your setup. I also have a Daytona with a Mexi-MPI/NA setup... I'll let you know which way is faster in April ! Our rules are strickly stock, but then there a ton of exceptions.
