I haven't been spending much $$$$ on car projects lately. The high-buck item is still sitting without an engine. In a few days, it will have been three months of waiting for a cleaning, boring, and piston pin pressing with a $500 cash deposit, and I am getting a little restless. Yea it is summer. It turns out that this is the kind of place where the high buck repeat customers get priority over the kids with their imports. heh.

All parts except the driveshaft are ready to go. The U-joints are a little notchy on the driveshaft. Problem? Yes because they are non-serviceable U-joints and even though you can get them out by grinding away the peening with a dremel, nobody makes U-joints in that diameter. There are ones that are .015" larger in the Mitsubishi Montero, but all the driveshaft shops around here claim it to be impossible to bore the shaft .015" larger and machine in a provision to retain a bitch clip to hold the joint in there. Mitsubishi wants $900+ for a new driveshaft (its a 3-piece unit) and the alternative is a refurbished one that is converted to serviceable joints and is $630. Aftermarket 1 piece carbon fiber driveshaft is $1100. The joints aren't that bad--just less than perfect and will need attention soon.

Just a lot of bills and a job that a reliable behind-the-scenes source says people are looking into eliminating my job postion. I have seen this exact pattern a couple times before--the scenario is where new managers with fancy college degrees come to power, and know little to nothing about what exactly your job demands and why it is a good idea to have it. But it doesn't look good on paper, and keeping the computer's numbers happy by feeding good numbers into it is all that matters in today's world. You cannot count how much $$$ you lose because you sold an inferior product and how much $$$ you lose due to poor customer service. Cutting those paychecks is the easiest way to look at cost savings.

So what time is everybody going to get to the show? If anyone going to St. Paul afterwards? I bet it'll be a zoo near Porkies. I'm going to get there early if at all possible. I do have to run to a salvage yard tomorrow and see what kind of xxxxxxxxxxx is there. Might be rare. I was suppose to do that today and forgot.
See you all tomorrow. I'll be the guy wearing the AMC shirt promoting "North Star AMC Club of MN."
Shame on me huh?

Man it was hot today...Tomorrow is supposed to be worse.

I think I will be down there again tomorrow if you guys want to set-up a meeting spot.
I have to go scouting tomorrow. I've been trying to get this girl to go out with me, but she's playin' hard to get and won't give me an answer or a number. She said she'll be at Car Craft tomorrow and told me to find her...huh...good thing shes hot.

You've got no reason to miss tomorrow. I'll be there sometime.
I only saw Jim there today. Oh yeah, Kurt too. (Kurt has an 87 Shelby Lancer if you don't know him. He had his 440 Dodge Coronet R/T there. Very nice car. The only TD's I saw were SRT-4's. I heard Ryan and Shannon were there, but didn't see then. I sure saw a lot of people that I knew yhough. I guess that goes with old age.
See everyone tomorrow.

Look for this truck. It's Jim's. The rear window says something about layapatch.com. Easy to spot.

I was at the dyno along with Paul and several hundred of my close personal friends @ 11:00 AM. We were looking for some more MNSDAC members but didn't see anyone. Silver twin turbo Chevelle was on the dyno at the time.

I don't even want to say what time I got there. Had too much to do before I went there. The Dyno thing was won by a guy that lives a few houses away from me. (Carl Finney) I guess he wins it evey year. My other neighbor says Carl came in first at the show this weekend and 2nd in the nation. My house shook Friday when Carl was driving something down the street.
Who had the 89 CSX there? Very nice car.

I never did see what he drove down the street. (I only knew who it had to be) That one isn't exactly his daily drive. He use to have an 800HP 69 Chevelle that he'd take out on the weekends. Not sure if he still has it.

I spent most of my time under a tent right across the street from where Carl Finney was. My neighbor was there with his blue Camaro right next to a really beautiful butterscotch Corvette.

Paul, Is that the same neighbor that has the Mopars?

Does anyone know whos 89 CSX this was? It had very low miles.
While I was there, I bumped in to a guy that use to have an 87 CSX. The motor went bad about 8 years ago and the car has been sitting. He told me he was thinking of selling it last fall. I figured he wanted too much for it so I just gave him my number. I asked him if he still had it and he said he gave it to a neighbor. Aarg!!! I should have offered him something for it. He's not sure what the neighbor is going to do with it. Maybe he'll get it running and join the club. [

Yea, you've met that neighbor that one day you were here. I think we helped unload some stuff from his truck or something.

I am quite sure that CSX is the one that shows up at the Osceola Wheels & Wings show every year. Extremely good condition and very low miles.
