One thing that I learned is that my clutch will not take the torque of a 2.5L pumping out some big numbers. Time for an upgrade.

I think I can cut a full second off my ET with better launch technique and hardware and of course, more turboboost, ported exhaust manifold, and a half dozen other little tweaks, including weight reduction.

What clutch do you have Paul? I don't know what one I have in the Lebaron, but it's the best I've ever had, I bought it used from "mrcoolcar" about 5 years ago. (Installed last year) It was supposed to be a good one but I don't remember what it was about it that kept me from buying a new one.

Alright!

Turned out to be a nice day after all. Thanks for the use of your helmet too Paul.

Left the twin cities to spectate about noon Sunday...Got there about 2:45 ( I kinda dawdled , lol ) Nobody around! except for the honduhricers stranded along side the roads around the track , hoods up/broke down...
I was pretty surprised it was all over , when I used to bracket race out there , rarely were we done before 4 or 5 .

I wish I could have run my R/T, I'm scared and my suspension needs some work. Although, I am pretty sure I could of put a hurtin on most of those imports.

Haha, you should have given me a call, I think me and Shannon left around 1pm. Not really sure when everyone else left but we might of been able to save you the trip out there.

Bob, the clutch I am using is one from Chrysler. I gave the parts guys the VIN from the IROC R/T I had, and told them to get me a clutch for it. It is an awesome clutch if you want one for a car that is stock. It has over 20,000 miles on it and feels almost like the day I installed it. It'd hold the T-III's torque and a stock 2.5 turbo, but it'd be interesting to know what kind of torque I am making right now. I've had zero luck with the cheap aftermarket clutches.

For those who haven't raced before, it is not as easy as it may seem. It was my first time, and the trouble I had was dealing with the noise (exhaust and tire squeel) of the car beside me--You can't tell if it is your car or theirs that is or isn't making traction. Plus, with the helmet on, its like having ear plugs in and everything sounds different.

The weather forecast probably chased away most people, so attendance wasn't superb so the bracket racing got done relatively quickly. Although, with the relatively few people there, you can get a lot of time trial runs in. I made six passes, and could have easily done ten before the competition actually began.

That wasn't my helmet... It was my neighbor's. SSSHHHHHH.

You should be able to feel your car burning tire. As for the sounds, I guess it's just something that you have to train your ears to listen for.

I hear what your saying. It is hard to tell what's going on with the car. Took me three passes to realize I was roasting my clutch and not just spinning my tires in 3rd and 4th gear, oh ya and the smoke coming out of the bellhousing on the last pass was also a tell tale sign. :-) Ya it's not easy to go fast with a heavy daytona. Much easier with 175-200 hp and a 2200lb honda then a 3000lb daytona and 250+ hp. Plus there's a bazillion aftermarket parts for hondas and very few for us.

My name is Jeremy, no photo love for the old 86 T1 car eh!!

sorry if i wasn't around the group too much, i wasn't sure were you guys were hanging out in the pits cause it seemed everytime i came back to the pits you guys had already run back up so i wasn't sure where to sit. i'm used to going to RFs with my dad's truck and trailer, then there is always a designated spot.

My car was pissing me off to, it kept smoking out of the exhaust in the staging lanes, but not when i went down the track, it wasn't noticable with the full exhaust on, that cat must have been cleaning it up for me lol.

Chris, yeah send me those. Usually I take a ton of pictures but this time with the video camera, I didn't pull out the still camera very often.

I don't rememeber what link is on the site for adding pictures. You can also just send them to amoparx@comcast.net Just make sure the subject line tells me so I don't accidently delete them.

Also Shannon, can I take a few of the TD pictures off the pages you posted and link the rest?
Did anyone else take any pictures?
Thanks

Usually it runs about a dollar per picture but since it's you Bob... it will be double.

Just kidding. I am pretty sure she won't mind.
