Anyone going this year? I know I have met a few of you guys over the years down there, just curious who is planning on being there this year? It is being held the last weekend of March. Hope to see some TD's there this year!

I try to go every year. Last year I drove 89 CSX 187 down and got caught in a blizzard in UT. The cruize is a joke, I almost drive from Spokane in the time it takes them to drive into Vegas. I leave at 8:00 AM and arrive at 10:00 PM in Vegas at the slowest. Remember Terry there is only one good driver in the FWD class every year, the ugly Omni, other than that one guy the $300 prize money is easy.

*Sport Compact Class. This class is for all of those vehicles that came from the factory equipped with front wheel drive.

Winner $300.00

Runner Up $150.00

Semis $ 75.00

Entry Fee $75.00

Low ET $75.00

(12 car minimum)

Win and you could pay for your trip even.....

Pope, I actually met you last year, but I only had time to talk to you for a few minutes and then I didn't see you for the rest of the weekend. I was riding a long board if that rings a bell. You planning on bringing the CSX again this year? I have been toying with the idea of bringing my R/T down there if it is running well enough. Possibly run it down the track once or twice if I have enough miles on the break in by then. I doubt it will happen though. I think Terry is going to be there again this year. He is defiantely a crowd favorite, so I hope he can make it.

I would love to go, and the holset will probably be on by then. But I am willing to bet money I am still running stock boost because of a stock computer!

Haha, call Cindy every two days and ask for updates. I have learned thats the only thing that helps. They will get your stuff done just so you stop bothering them! You should come down either way. My dad is trying to talk me into bringing my R/T. If I feel it is ready to do a few shake down runs, then I will probably bring it down with me.

Maybe Kasey will trailor me :P
That would be a heck of a long tow and I dont think Im buying a dolly.

My car really doesnt like the sub zero temps in utah and i wont be back in the state till mid feb. I technically dont have anything to do in march after i turn in law school apps. I am so lame though I would be complaining about the 75 dollar entry even though thats how much I would spend on gas lol.

Pretty danged sure I cant deal with a Full Pro tree though. Not to mention I wont be consistent. I should take the slow reliable car and have a chance at winning lol. :P

Kidding? In Spokane it is Pro Tree or nothing, so I have been taught on one since 16 years old. The regular tree is a pain, I just leave on the yellow and cut a .16 foot brake light and go. The regular tree gets me leaving on the first yellow, you must learn to time the tree. Reaction time with a regular light is BS, the only time your "reacting" and going is with a Pro Tree. Once you get it down your faster and most consistant with a real tree, just leave on the yellow.

I am not very friendly the first day, about the time I'm waxxing. After I am done waxxing and can relax because I'm there and done messing with the car, my brothers BS or what ever. Then I am more friendly lol. I normally get there sat morning too, not friday because I can't take as much time off from work.

The CSX may be the most ready, I would like to take down the GLHS and dyno it instead. But I don't see it happening. Wiesco doesn't know how to make a piston and I have to buy others now which will take time. If you buy a 2.2 piston and stick it in a 2.5, the piston comes out of the commen block. I have a 2.2 steel crank and the piston comes out of the block? So I may have a long rod, tall deck set of coated forged pistons I now need rid of. By the measurements I took thats what I do have some how. But at nearly $700 I would like to get half that atleast and start over, Wiescos also have a tiny paper thin ring. I melt and shrink stock thick moly rings and lose compression, I don't know about these. Anyway a bunch more lost time

Who wouldn't jump in the stands for the mini? But Vegas is nasty no 02 air thats thin and higher alt than Portland. Terry lives in a rain forest full of fresh 02, it is cool there and very near sea level. At that point the van may run mid 12's in Vegas or high 12's. I am at 2,700 ft here with "ok" air and my brothers SRT is .4-.5 slower in Vegas It would be great to run an 11 in Vegas in front of that crowd, his van would be in 3 Mopar mags afterward. But running in Vegas sucks

My T-Type went it's quickest and fastest EVER lap in Vegas....LOL!!! .2 quicker than Woodburn and I was on the brakes hardcore trying not to break out...LOL!!!

The air quality of the day is all that matters........and your ability to tune around the air quality

In Palmdale, California at 5200 feet of corrected air my GN ran 10.60 compared to my previous best of 10.47 which was ran at Mission, B.C. in real good air! Mission is known for it's great air......at times it can actually get to 300 ft BELOW sea level when corrected

Turbocharged engines are not effected nearly as much as N/A engines are when the elevation changes IF you know how to tune for maximum results

Your results may vary

hmm, were getting older now and there is millions more there than 10 years ago lol. I could be wrong, the SRTs hate Vegas, but that is one car. Others down there just complain the air really sucks, and everyone is slower. Turbos are a lot different than NA and there may be a way around it. I just see so many run slower though. If the van is there and runs the new head and or just the new intake it should run deap into the 11s anyway. Your low gears, 2.5 and G head would love the plenum without more head work lol (with the lower piece ported to match). You my be happy to spend less and try the intake before you really dive into head work. Your MPH and transfer gears may like just a higher RPM power range. The head will need more fuel and a serious tuning with the intake. I am just curious what just an intake change would do on a race machine, most likely why I am pushing lol.

haha we go down 2000 feet when utah visits vegas so nobody will complain lol. Plus we wont have to deal with utah's horrible weather correction.
