It's pretty tough sqealing the tires on a TII Daytona. The boost level sounds about right. I'd get about 12+ with mine. 15 if the VG solinoid popped it's hose off! That car is heavy. With my old 89 TII Shelby, it was always slugish off the line, but from 75 on up, it really came on. Get 4 people in the car and it was hard to leave an intersection. That was with low miles and running great.
I'm glad to hear you got it running better. I hope to get my GTC running one of these days. I have rotted clamps on the fuel pump hoses. So, at this time, I think I'm just losing all pressure from the system. I havent messed with the car much since it stalled a week ago. I need to get it running for the warm weather and to keep miles off the Shelby. The minivan brakes work fantastic on the GLHS. I'm getting a slight clunk from the calipers right now. I couldn't get the provided anti rattle clips to work on the caliper. I'm going to grab a couple off a JY van next time I'm at U-Pull.
Then, two different books showed the outer pad clips in two places. one said on top, the other said bottom. Well, I had two sets (one from new calipers and one from new pads) so I went top and bottom.
My Wife and I went to the new "Sonic" tonight. What a waste of time and money. The food was colder than cold. They messed up on sizes and had to tell them I only got half the order. We were in line for one full hour.
My wife has been wishing they'd bring Sonic here forever. Well, hopefully, the next time we go there, they'll have their stuff together.

Paul, what kind of mileage did you average on your trip? How many miles did you log?

Sorry Bryan, as for the pump, I had problems with the internal pump on the turbo L-body 2 pump set up. The internal (feeder pump) one didn't work at all. The car accellerated great until the R's got up there and then it would fall flat on it's face.

Normal driving and freeway driving...the thing runs like a champ!! It cruises so nice down the freeway...it's like driving a 300.

Will not produce power during boost though! It will produce about 10-12 pounds of boost, but it doesn't do it very quickly. AND at that kind of boost you'de think I'de get atleast a squeel from the tires, but NO!, just a lot of noise and loud 'ppsssshhhhh' when I shift. The pressure is in the intake manifold, but the power is not going to the ground.
BTW - the clutch is NOT slipping.

Anyone voice on my theary of the fuel pump not keeping up?
Check for boost leaks. Also recheck your ignition timing and cam timing. I doubt it is the fuel pump.

Could be cam timing like Ryan says. A couple ways to check that without doing any real work is a compression test and/or see how much manifold vacuum it is pulling at hot idle. Good compression (140+ PSI) and low vacuum would lead me to believe ignition timing is the culprit. It should have 17-19 in.hg of vacuum at our altitude. My GTC was pulling about 13 inches of vacuum at 11,000' elevation... just interesting to some to know. Equally low compression on all our cylinders would also indicate a cam timing issue.

Something like the MAP sensor vacuum line could also cause a similar issue. Also, like you said, the fuel pump may not be keeping up--possibly the result of a plugged up fuel filter or similar. I can try to remember to bring my fuel pressure guage to Porkeys this weekend and we can verify proper fuel pressure at high throttle/RPM.

BOB, the Lebaron averaged 28.5 mpg on the trip out west. This is according to the traveler computer which I find to be pretty darn accurate with stock fuel pressure and fuel injectors. During the entire distance from Brookings to Rapid City we were bucking a major head wind, and on the way back through Montana/North Dakota my friend really liked to drive fast--like 90+ mph for a couple hundred miles. Lots of stopping to gawk at animals in Yellowstone, hauling a lot of camping gear... Combine these factors with the hilly terrain and it makes the 28.5 mpg pretty respectable. I think I logged about 3100 miles.

Funny, I read this just after getting back from a friends house in Rogers. I went there to borrow his fuel pressure gauge. I have a leak on my pump. I think the pump itself is rusted through. I'm going to have to pull that out now. The tank and all lines have lots of rust. Not a pretty site.

Paul, it sounded like you had a great trip.

Been there, done that. Heading east toward Miles City is where I got my 89TII Daytona to 125. That's where it hit the pin on the speedometer. I was actually going faster I'm sure. This was maybe 1-2am. Then I got a ticket a half hour later doing 87. The trooper says, "Smell's like you've been running her hard for a while" LOL. "Didn't you see any animal's on the side of the road"? I didn't have the guts to tell him, that's why I was only doing 87. Seeing a deer on the side of the road at night doing over 115mph puts a scare in you!
They don't like speed at night in Montana. He say's you can get away with it during the day.

Going to be a busy Saturday. I have to be at the shop at 7:00am. We're going to sit on the roof and watch them Implode a smoke stack and who know's what else at the local power plant in NE MPLS.

I guess I'll have to remember to bring my camera since Bob's not going to be there!

Anyone else going or not going?

I'm not going to watch any explosions Saturday. A guy at work had the location wrong. It's not the one near work. I didn't want to get to the shop that early anyway
See everyone Saturday. And Jim, I looked at the Go Daddy site and can't make heads or tails as to working any magic. Maybe you can shead a little light on it. I was going to call them, but thought maybe because I wasn't you, they may not help.
Well, off to the shopping center. (U-Pull-R-Parts)

Come on Ryan. You know us. We'd welcome warm sunny iffy weather!
After all, we seem to show up on very cold windy days and then during monsoons.
I'll be there.
