I got a race car trailer to use, so I went into work today and put my car back ON the rotisserie. It goes to get Media Blasted on Thursday, FINALY!!! He said he'll have it done Friday, so I'll have it back and primed next weekend.

I just ate, now I'm gonna go out and pull the turbo off my engine, so I can mount put it on this one. I'm hoping all goes well and I can get this car...I'm excited!

If you know anybody that wants a good running older carbed 2.2, they can come get it. I don't need it sitting around here since I got the original engine in the 82 Turismo 2.2 running.

WooHoo!!
I now a own a runni...'er...semi running TD!!! LOL

'88 Shelby Z!
Really!! Really nice shape, except for lack of headliner and faded drivers door.
The engine was tuned pretty heavily. Just from what I've seen and heard it has a CAI, BOV, 40+ injectors, FWDP Stage 5 computer, 255lph fuel pump, and MSD coil.
The car is running SUPER rich and is burning oil. It's 9:30 and I just got back, so the car will have to sit for a day...oh wait, we are supposed to get 5"!!! of fricken snow!!!!
The title thing is goofy, but lagit, so hopefully it will transfer with no issues and I have to call for insurance. I plan to drive this car regularily so it needs some tuning and an exhaust.
I will make sure it makes it to the next meet!

Congratulations! 88 Huh? I thought the guy said 87. Oh well. Except for the 2 piece intake, they're pretty similar. Is it at your house? I may have to do a drive by and take a look at it.

What year is that engine? I was thinking about converting my Sundance to a carbed engine. 20mpg is getting really old. I'd actually like to get a 82-83 2.2 Turismo/Charger with a 5-speed. 36 MPG is really nice, but those cars are impossible to find. Me ex lost hers about 18 years ago. What a good car. (The 86 Shelby Charger was sitting there the day before)

That brings up an interesting question... are Twin-TD's allowable?

Bob, if you're sick of the TBI stuff, it is time for turbocharged power. I went through the same crisis several years ago.

Sure, why not. But how are you going to drive both cars there? Oh, wait.....I know what you're talking about.
I'd love to turbo that car, but, it is the winter beater. If I had a donor car sitting here and a lot of time, maybe. I may just live with the mileage.

You are right...The owners manual said 1988. I checked the door and Prod Date is 12/86. A little more digging and I found the 1987 Owners Manual.
So YES, it's an '87!!!

I found the oil leak...jeez. The guy that put in the open air filter didn't do anything with the PCV, so it's been pouring down over the transmission! The valve cover was leaking, so I pulled that off, and there is no gasket there, just remainders of one.
I was also amazed to see that there is no coolant lines for the turbo. They are capped off, and look factory.
I pulled all the air intake, and the turbo (intake side) is bone dry, and all the air hoses are free of oil...mostly.
I'm gonna order an exhaust and some stuff, and try to figure out where the smoking is coming from...It only smokes under load and boost. Cruising and reving there is no smoke.

SMALL WORLD! The car was originaly purchased at Country Chrysler of Elk River. My grandpa (dad's dad) owned and operated that dealership, and thats how I got started in Chryslers. When he died, my grandma sold everything.

Bob, You still have the smacked up Charger sitting around? Could use some red interior pieces if you do. trying to finish by Power Tour - Page 3 - Minnesota F-Body Club for the Turismo

That Shelby looks really cool. You've altered it a bit. That 83 Charger is long gone. It was really nice inside too. But then, those pictures were taken maybe 18+ years ago. I do have a pair of red Omni buckets that I may part with but that's about it. I was keeping them in case I got a Charger or Omni needing seats. I couldn't pass them up when I saw how nice they were.
I don't know where or how to tell the years of the motor. I do know if the crank has 8 bolts it's 86 or newer. 6 bolts would be 85 on down.

So does it still have the 2 piece intake? That would be great if it did. If so, maybe use that for your other Daytona and use the one piece for the 87.

There should be a casting date on the block--on the firewall side / drivers side of the block right above the oil pan. By creeping under the car and looking up with a flashlight, you may be able to read it still.

Otherwise, on the front of the block, there should be a fuel pump blockoff plate to the left of the oil filter, but that won't tell you the year or anything, but it will verify that it is a pre 1989 block. Make sure it has a 2.2L oil pan--the 2.5's are much deeper and have a "flat" bottom. No engine / transmission combo surprises me when it comes to these things as so many have been pieced together over the years.

Yep, it still has the two piece intake, and the shift linkage is all the same for the A555, but there isn't any tag on it.

All legal now and took for a drive down the road with a little more confidence. Rips super hard and pegs the boost guage, but blows oil hard out the valve cover.

I'm gonna bring it to work tomorrow, and mount a muffler and seal the valve cover. As far as I can tell the head gasket is still good.

If everything goes perfectly, which it probably won't. HAHA. I may be rolling in a new vehicle...
