I received a call from the folks at the Volo auto museum this afternoon informing me of this event and asking if I could help them spread the word to the Shelby-Dodge community. Joe Lopez is the gentleman that I spoke with and he mentioned that they would really like to see some nice Shelby Dodge cars make it to the show. I was impressed that he went out of his way to track me down through their records and then asked for help getting some representation of Carroll's Dodge years out to the show.

Here is the blurb from their website:
"Carroll Shelby will host a Shelby Car Show at the Volo Auto Museum on May 28, 2005. The show will feature a live band, beer garden, food, dash plaques and trophies. General Admission is $12. Register your Shelby automobile today to participate in the show - limit 200 cars. All registration proceeds support Carroll Shelby's Children's Foundation. Print and complete the registration form below and send it with a check or money order to the Volo Auto Museum at 27582 W. Volo Village Road, Volo, IL, 60073 or call 815-385-3644 with your credit card information. In the event of rain, Carroll Shelby will appear indoors at the Volo Auto Museum. If any spots remain, registration will be $5 more on the day of the event. "

This is a great opportunity for anyone within a reasonable drive from Chicago. I am also working on maybe setting up a cruise or bbq or what-not after the show for all that are interested. Registration for the show can be done via their website, or over the phone. If you register please send me an email and I'll gladly help you out with finding lodging, a car wash, food, directions etc..

Bump,

I booked a spot in the show for my 85 GLH today. They said that reservations are selling quickly.

I know of a few guys from the SDAC mailing list that plan on attending, it would be great to get a large shelby-dodge showing there.

I just registered my 89 CSX for the show. I hope my lowly Dodge based product does not get embarrased around all that high buck Ford power.

Robin, it's the Fords I'm worried about, those guys don't always take easily to being humbled by a Dodge. Keep in touch as the event draws nearer and I'll let you know what everyobody else is doing for lodging and what we end up planning for after the show.

My wife has family in Northern Illinois so I asked her if she would like to go for a visit over Memorial weekend. In 13 years of marriage, it is the first time I suggested visiting in-laws. So she jumped at the idea. I then added the "Oh by the way - there is a car show on Saturday". It worked very well.

We will likely be staying somewhere near my wife's hometown of Batavia.

From SDAC-Chicago I know of at least 4 cars pre-registered and going to be there:

Dave (TurboDave) '85 DC GLHT
Jose (munozj001) '87 CSX
Jim (dodgeman87) '87 Shelby Lancer
and me with my Shelby Z

Other locals might make it out, also some folks from SDAC-GL might be there too.

See you there!
