i was driving with my buddy inmy old 2.2 turbo sundance and we had just got a 20v vw intercooler mounnted in the front. plumbing was shatty but it ripped like itnever did. anyway im beside this 68 mutt and its real loud with a guy driving with his little kid inthe passanger side. I pulled up and revved and looked over and he shot a smile and yelled what kind of motor it was. i yelled back that it was a 2.2 turbo and he said , arent you sure its not a b and s. i had no idea what that was so i asked him, he said brigs and stratton, i laughed because it was quite funny. He eventually raced me after i talked him into it-well i won by a door and he was willing to hear what was in the car now. pulled ovr and was all about it-couldnt believe he got beat by a fwd 4 cylinder with a 17 year old driver. haha

Loud exhaust doesnt help. The only race I have had in Utah, I actually never knew I had, because my exhaust was so loud I couldnt hear their car accellerating. By the time I noticed, I was already in 3rd gear and the other side of the intersection @ 18mph.....I was pretty pissed because they did the flyby like they had beat me or something. They must have thought I was racing because I take off quickly from stoplights (and then go slow) because my ceramic clutch is a bit grabby and quick starts are easier.

With my turbo and full exhaust, the car is very quiet. The spirit is going back to n/a and im putting the setup in a duster.....so I dont think that car will have exhaust to speak of besides a downpipe. Having a huge turbo is nice, because you cant hear the turbo at low rpms.

I have 3" exhaust all the way from the outlet to the tip, with a cat and a resonator in between. Due to the need for a small trailer hitch and to kill the 65-70 mph drone inside, I am cutting off the system from behind the cat and replacing it w/ a 3.5" muffler (using bell reducers to connect to the pipe) and a stainless steel tip will be peeking out from under the sliding door. The ricers will now pay even less attention, so it will get even more difficult to goad them into a duel. My plan? Well, I'll have to resort to putting down the window and throwing a handfull of rice at their car. Should work good, no?

a full t4 turbo does have some lag involved on a 3.0. Too bad my 57 trim doesnt flow well enough/psi boost.

you have to let it vent to atmosphere to get that loud sound.
