Not bad, the Ecotec has 10 less horse and is a bit heavier car. My 98 Z24 is a little faster than my buddies 03 Neon R/T, i'd say at most maybe a car length.

I recently got a '96 neon DOHC MTX coupe with right at 100k on the clock. It rattles, ticks, leaks, squeaks, and alot of other stuff. Well worn is how Id describe it. Anyways, some guy at work was wanting to race his '88 MX6 5spd after work. I said ok, so we lined up with everybody watching. He jumped early and pulled about half a length. By the end of 1st gear I had pulled back even, by the end of 2nd I had a length but i accidently hit the rev limiter, by the end of 3rd I had like 2 lengths, hit the limiter again went to 4th then let out cuz I was running out of road. I had put about 4-5 lengths total on him. Pulled into a parking lot and he instantly started throwing excuses even though he jumped me and I chased him down. I think Im gonna like my new daily driver. Im getting an Iceman intake in a week or so and a Pacesetter hedder shortly after off of my cousins neon R/T(hes upgrading to a Kirk intake and a longtube hedder). Cant wait!

those 1st gen 5spd neons are quick. i think the rt and acr did 60 in like 7.5 seconds, which is likely quicker than any stock T1 5spd car. certainly much faster than my 89 lesabre with a big 3.8 and tons more torque! there was a guy that stuffed a gm 3.8 in a 2nd gen cavalier Z24....sounds like fun to me! my sister has a 99 base cav 2 door with a 5spd. not fast, but still sporty to drive!

Oh hell...you could feather the gas off the line and get better times with MPH like that.
