Ok. So I need you guy's input as to whether or not I can classify this as a kill. Here goes:

So I got the R/T back together (thanks again, Wallace). I have what I think is a pretty nice setup for the money (Spearco, Phantom Grip, 50-trim hybrid, custom cams, ported/coated head and manifolds, and 3” exhaust w/ cat). I’m running 20psi on 92 octane.

I take off hard from a light after grabbing second gear and apparently I got the attention of a younger guy in a black LT-1 Camaro (damn, TurboXS BOV). Next light, he cuts off a van to line up next to "The Dodge". Hehe. Time to see what this sucker can do.

I can’t see the cross lights, so there’s no cheating to be had (a favorite of mine). Light turns green and he rolls into it hard (enough to chirp anyway). I roll into the throttle, but this damn hybrid breaks them loose in first under literally 2-3psi at around 3500.

So I peddle it though first and all the way through second (wheel spin city) as this guy puts a couple of lengths on me (two and some, call it three car lengths).

Third gear and, *jerk*, looks like I got a bite. I reeled him in like he’s just going for a Sunday drive. I’m right along side him in no time flat. I let off the throttle a bit (gave him some BOV) only to notice that he’s still accelerating. So I hammer on it again.

Half a second later and I’m fully spooled and side by side again. I look down at my speedo and I’m doing 95+. Oops. There’s the redline of third gear I’ve been bouncing off of.

The next light, he says “Nice race, man. What do you have in that thing?”

I tell him a hybrid, assuming (probably falsely so) that he knows what the hell a hybrid is. I ask him if he wants to go again as we were slowly rolling through a now green light. Unfortunately, he turned off.

I should have followed him to see what he had done to the Camaro. It probably wasn’t much, but he had what looked like an SLP exhaust system on it (not the standard rectangle shaped tips).

Anyway, sorry for the longwinded nature, but I still have the adrenaline flowing. It was a great race, but I think I would have decimated him if I had any traction.

What do you guys think?

He must have some decent mods, stock LT1's run around 14 flat with a few really good drivers busting into 13's. Definitely a kill though

Good kill! Even I've started picking on those LT-1's now, with a mostly stock C/S Daytona

Well... if you call 14.5psi, 2.5" exhuast and car weighing around 2200lbs "mostly stock" that is.

2200 pound Daytona, no offense but BS. Is all you have left one racing bucket seat in the interior?

Hehe I meant to hit 2400lbs, thought I did. Whoops!

Weighed it in when I bought it.... 2750lbs (on semi scales at a grain elevator).

It's the C/S model, no ground effects, no power anything.

Completely gutted interior (down to metal except for dash and two front seats, I take the back seats and spare tire out for racing).

No A/C components at all, etc.

I figure if it weighed in at @2750 with all the stuff, it has to be at or below 2400 pounds now, especially with losing about 20lbs of the car due to rust, of course, I won't know for sure until I weigh it again.

Either way, I know I lost at least 250lbs with all the stuff, I put it in a box on the scales when I gutted it.... and that didn't include the carpet that weighed an extra 20lbs becuase it was soaking wet, rotting the floorboard out of the drivers side, lol.

I'm going after them too (the apparently stock ones).. They aren't much faster than my mostly stock 'Tona. This summer I expect to be picking on them when I get my 3" exhaust and ECU'ed up to 14-15psi.

lol that's cool, usually I re-read my posts to make sure I typed what I meant to say, I neglected to do so that time and you caught me, lol!

I've seen Joe's car at Turbopalooza, and yeah, it's awesome!

Seriously though, anything that isn't essential to the driveability of the car is no longer in mine... haha one good kick to the floorboard and it's gone as well, lol.

LOL

Mine is full interior, the only thing considered to be weight loss on mine was the ditching of the A/C and thats not the reason I tossed it anyway. I like luxury, plus my car is fully loaded (pacifica model) so I like it just the way it is!

Its not forced. It went 111 in the 1/4 here in Texas awhile ago on street tires; Firestone SZ 50's.

It will go quite a bit faster than that the flip of a switch though

I'm looking to hit 110 on D/R's, should be a nice race. I know I know, looking to get and getting it are 2 different things but I'm fairly confident. You're in florida though aren't you?
