It's hard to say if I picked up power. Next weekend I'll go to the track. I'l do a run with this setup then try advancing it 2 or 3 degrees see what that does, and then I'll go 2 or 3 the other way to see what that does. I'll let you know.

My van is doing the same thing. I cannot get the EGT's down, and I feel its killing my topend. If I keep my foot in it it will keep climbing. I get nervous at 1650* so I let out. Cruising around at 55mph it stays toasty at 1500-1550. Shoudlnt it be cool with a light load on it just loafing down the highway? I turned up the fuel pressure, tried a few chips, dickered with the timing ect. Only thing I havent done was the cam timing. I ran out of time before I got deployed. I will be watching this thread very closely.

89 Caravan 2.5 w/forged wisecos. 3 bar cal, stock G head, stock 89 roller cam super 60 turbo ect. 20 PSI

Good luck man,

Jeff

Cruising around at 55mph it stays toasty at 1500-1550. WOW that's hot. Cruising around 55 my egt's are around 1300-1350. It could be a cam timing issue. I remember when my cam was retarded one tooth. Man would that thing run hot. Cam timing will really cause egt's to go through the roof. I remember reading a mustang post - cam was off a tooth, his headers would glow red just from the car idling for a 15 minutes. I will play with cam timing and let you know the results (EGT's , wideband etc).

Least you can run the boost. I can't go over 17psi without it pulling timing from 3-4k. I've tried adding more fuel from 12.3:1 down to 10.5:1. I've tried retarding the timing up to pulling at a 2:1 ratio for timing retard vs. boost. pissing me off since I have a S60 and want to run 25+ boost.

I dont have a adj. cam gear so I cant mess with the cam timing. I have rechecked it several times its dead on. I think its in the tuning. I have tried a few chips and the first one I got from TU seems to let it run the coolest. I am sure adjusting the cam timing will help though. I will await your results.

Have you messed with cam timing or ignition timing. Could be the cam timing?

Well the weather was dry and I took the car for a rip. Only change was advance cam 2 degrees. Looks like it lowered egt's slightly. I floored it and got it up to around 100 and egts peaked about 1600. I'll have to double check that at the track, but it may have cooled egt's about 50 degrees. Wideband was saying 10.9-11.3 so looks like I can lean it out a bit more. I might drop fuel pressure 3 or 4 and take another rip and see what that does. Again without a track I can't be positive that any of this is making the car go faster/slower. Hopefully if the rain holds up I'll get a bunch of runs this weekend.

I'm resurrecting this thread as I'm still not sure that my cal is where it needs to be as the EGT's still get pretty toasty driving it around. Where should they be cruising at 55 or 60? Thanks Shel-Game for the new cal. I notice the car idles fantastic and there is no cold start issues that I've noticed with some other cals. Update from last year. Took the car racing and had clutch issues. The TU ultimate kevlar was slipping. I just swapped in a RPS 4 puck so I'm now just driving it around the city to get some easy miles on it to break the clutch in. I have a race this Sunday so I'm hoping to do some testing later this week to see where the EGT's are and how my AF is. I'll update in a day or two. I also have finally got the wiring to hook my OTC 4000e scanner to my laptop for datalogging. Hopefully I will tinker with that tonight and get that to work. If anyone has some helpful hints to help me datalogg I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
