1990 dodge daytona ES 2.5 turbo
5 speed manual
3/4 full tank of 91 octane pump gas + gold eagle 104 maximum octane booster
boost set to 22psi via g-valve
BLOCK AND HEAD
2.5 turbo common block
cylinders bored out for 0.030" oversize pistons
cast mahle 0.030" oversize pistons
stock 2.5 turbo rods
stock 2.5 turbo crankshaft
balance shafts removed
stock fast-burn turbo cylinder head
block and head have less than 4k miles on them since they were both rebuilt
mopar 2006 head gasket
both head and block have been resurfaced, and since cylinders are slightly oversize, my compression ratio is probably a bit higher than stock
TURBO
turbonetics hybrid T3/T4 turbo
.63 exhaust housing
super 60 style compressor housing
super 46 trim compressor wheel
stage 1 exhaust turbine
2.5" garrett swingvalve
EXHAUST
stock exhaust manifold
3" downpipe
turbos unleashed 3" cat-back
magnaflow 3" straight through muffler
INTAKE
big front mount intercooler in front of radiator (see pic)
3.5" x 19" x 14" core, bar and plate, internal fins, 2.5" inlet and outlet
2.5" intercooler and air filter tubing
cone air filter located in front of battery location
Greddy Type RS blow off valve on hot intercooler pipe
FUEL
stock fuel pump
stock fuel lines
stock fuel filter
+40 injectors
AFPR located in stock location
fuel pressure set to around 55 psi
IGNITION
champion RN9YC plugs set to 0.29 gap (I think)
other wise completely stock
timing set to 12 deg BTDC
ENGINE MANAGEMENT
stage 5 90/91 computer from fwdperformance
grainger valve for boost control
WEIGHT
everything behind the front seats interior-wise has been removed
TRACTION
probably 18 year old suspension
M&H 23x7.5x15 slicks @ 13 psi
BEST ET: 9.108
BEST MPH: 77.99
BEST 60 FOOT: 2.105
NOTES:
Slicks still break loose on launch. Think what I need to do is:
Firm up rear suspension (whats the cheapest way to do this?)
Install my cheapo water injection system and turn the boost up to 30 psi.
Dual stage boost controller or equivalent

better put something in other than water and i dont think i read you having a 255 fuel pump yet. 22psi i doubt on that 91 with whatever you mixed was very good for those cast pistons. i think you will be blowing that thing up any more boost unless you run race gas

Ya if you are going to run that much boost it would probably be better to buck up and buy a devils own kit or run race gas

devils own kit is not an option, im not putting anymore serious money into this car
wideband indicates low 11's AFR at 22 psi
spark plugs show no signs of detonation
255 fuel pump is sitting on the garage floor and will be installed before boost goes up

just for kicks, 93 octane is only good for about 20psi, so you are already past octane rating, crappy fuel is still crappy fuel and 11s isnt a good spot to be on pump gas, i would think the 10s and i didnt see the egts but i bet they are getting up there

ya a/f is only part of it
EGT's also affect performance
Devils own would fit into your build nicely

real fuel and more timing...your mph is pretty low for that combo. my omni (though lighter) with basically the same turbo ran 90s in the 1/8. i hit 82 with a stock t2 at 24#. take the tire pressure down too. you can get away with as low as 6# warm. more boost is only going to cause more problems if you can't use what you have.

While I agree that 91 is a bit low to be runnig for really high boost, I kinda dissagree that 93 is pushing it for 20#s too.
I've been running 93 for a while now and running 20-22#'s with NO issues. Of course I'm on a stock turbo, so I'm not moving as much air, but intake temps are going to have a fair impact on whether the thing is going to preingnite or not(which would be more of the worry here). I usually tune with my Devil's Own off as I only use it to cool the intake charge and help curb any detonation that might occur. However, I don't want to rely on it solely as if it fails or runs out of fluid I want to be sure my engine can live without it. So far(knocking on wood), I've not had an issue. A/F's are in the mid 11's without the Devil's Own(now, they were in LOW 12's, but I had to turn the fuel pressure up a little to help aleviate a hard start problem when the engine was hot...was running in to vapor lock!). As a note the car seems to run BETTER slightly richer...
I do want to add that I DO have a 255 pump(and have since before I turned the boost up). I don't know what my EGT's are(don't have a gage in this car...yet), but I can say that I'm VERY happy with the performance of my car, not only on the track, but also at the pump...I consistantly get 30-32mpg, and that's without having the WBO2 sending a signal to the computer the get it to run leaner under cruise.
77mph does see a bit slow for a 9.1 1/8th mile though...especially since you got an OK launch. Dunno what's up with that...could be the track's timers! I know Gainsville, one lane consistantly shows 4mph slower than the other...even if you run a very similar time!

i went 8.40ish@85 in a similar weight lancer with about the same combo and a 255 pump. Shocks were konis and struts were MP's. try dumping in a few gallons of race gas and see if the mph picks up any... you may very well be picking up some knock with such a low mph. Also what is the elevation/humidity/temp. there?

I've seen T4 compressor wheels squeezed into T3 compressor housings increase turbo outlet temps and create additional lag. It might have been a better choice to go with a S60/S70 or a true T3/T4 hybrid with a T04E housing. Why did you go with that turbo combination?

turbo choice: fast spool
been running 22 psi for weeks now on 91 with no problems
why would i need a higher capacity fuel pump if my AFR's are where I want them?
if and when I go to 30 psi I cant keep AFR's where I want, then Ill put in the 255. But if AFR's are where I want right now, then Im getting enough fuel, so why would I need the bigger pump?

you wont get near 30psi, at best 25 before you detonate/run lean and blow the piston out the bottom given its on 91, stock pump and no meth or water injection

You need to get that exhaust manifold ported, you'll get lower egt's, less knock and a serious increase in power + faster spool.
I wouldn't lower the slicks down to 6 psi thats just downright dangerous, you'll be bouncing off the rims
