6g72 Sundance Duster vs Slicked Kenne Bell Cobra - Video

I was pretty pissed off at the car with its clutch issues but the first race made the night worth it...was great watching all his friends running into the pits freaking out trying to change air pressure etc etc (even though he bogged...idiots). They wouldnt talk to me but the White turbo Cobra in the burnout box in my first race certainly thought it was funny.

Not sure if I want to fix the clutch or maybe try Ray Pampenas ATF fluid trick.

A whole bunch of the TD boys were there including the Lindsey Family's twin mini's (dempseys old van etc). Only me and the van racing.

Clutch smoked itself during burnouts on my first and 2nd run. Didnt want to hold during my passes. Probably didnt help that I ran 8psi instead of 6psi.
Pretty lame looking at the datalogs and seeing the RPM's "dropping" after I have shifted into the next gear because the clutch hasnt caught up to the engine.
My third pass. 2nd ger burnout which isnt really a burnout because I thought the clutch would slip. It still cleaned the tires off and caused the car to bog..and slip the clutch more because it was actually hooking. I never made it into 3rd gear :(

Good runs, so you are shooting for 12s?
Is it the 3puck that is slipping?

^^ what he said! I know the last time I remember you having clutch issues you went with an unsprung hub, but I can't remember if it was 3 or 4 puck. Even still, you shouldn't be having this issue! What pressure plate do you have? I suppose maybe it's time for a sintered steel clutch? Possibly look in to a multi-plate set-up...

THe clutch got glazed two weeks ago because I had the wrong clutch arm on the transmission for the old style shorter clutch cable. The pressure plate was being "rode" constantly while I was driving and it got smoked during a few burnout attemps at the track two weeks ago. Fixing the pressure plate release problem didnt fix the glazing :(

3 puck.

Ouch..sorry to hear that.

Maybe a "re-break in" of srots would work? I know my stock clutch would do that. I could get on it a few times before it would slip and go to crap. After that I had to drive it easy for about a week before it would even think about holding power again...

There are a few tricks I might try. ATF fluid dumped on the clutch assembly (loosen the bolts on the trans to block and make a gap).

Then I might try pulling it and sanding the surfaces etc.

But I will first contact clutchnet when I remember and ask them what my options are.

Looks like you need to put a stop on the shifter, keeps from over stressing the cable joint when shifting to 1-3-5,Pretty easy to fab one.

In the 3.0 section we are talking about building an aluminum end. I already started. I also am rerouting the cables to be higher in the firewall so they dont kink so much.

I would rather break shifter cables then have the clutch be toasted though :(

I've been thinking about building a stop for my shifter for a while. It will not only take stress off the cables, but also the shift forks and pads. As an added bonus the shift feel will probably feel a lot more positive becuase the shifter will hit a solid stop, not just when everything else stops too...

They said ship it back to them so they can replace the pucks and inspect the Diaphragm ring or something like that.
I dont really want to pull anything.

I am going to pour some ATF fluid on the clutch and slip it a bunch and see how it behaves after that.

I've never personally heard of that trick, but I suppose there's really no talking you out of trying it. I know that *I* wouldn't do it, but if it works...SWEET!

I didnt do it because as i was taking thing apart I realized I would have to drain the coolant so I decided I didnt want to do it.

Ran 13.0@104 on 8psi boost last night and then even slower on 9.5psi boost. Clutch is toast. 1.75 60's though. Launching with 5psi boost is awesome. Too bad my clutch was slipping the whole way down the track. The datalogs were very useful.
