Another little clip. A fun run between me and a buddy. Its a basically stock GTO, and we just wanted to see how it would turn out with me on 15psi. The chistmas tree on our computer generated track was not working tonight, so I had to honk it off while trying to rev so I could launch. It didnt work to well. lol You can hear me honk 4 times. He leaves on the 3rd I leave on the 4th. I was paying more attention to the revs then honking. He gets me bad off the line (gto on left, RT on right) but I catch him, and while passing him and going into 3rd the clutch totally starts to slip. I still get him pretty good though. ;) Good times. There is a good posibility that the head was lifted or lifting on this run as well.

lol Yeah, but I knew it was going to be a problem. Ondonti had the same pressure plate. The clutch its self is actually nice, I like it. But the pressure plate has no clamping force. And, its actually slipped a few times before this race. The night I raced the srt8, it started to slip after he and I played for a while, then a lightning decided to join. Beat him with a slipping clutch too. lol Nothing a dual diaphram from FWD wont fix.
And as far as the head goes. That was my fault. I knew the fuel pump wasnt going to keep up. Its tired and old. A new one is going in. And, at most the head will just have to be milled a little, nothing major. I built the thing to beat the hell out of. lol Thats also why I have started another shortblock. But, this one will be a little more built.

A modded SRT8 is a different beast then a C6 Z06.. The Z06's trap over 125mph stock.. That GTO you ran traps 105-108mph stock.. Thats a big difference.. Also the LS1 is a 5.6 liter engine. Good run never the less.

well, I am on low boost when I ran the GTO with a totally slipping clutch. Not to mention, the post you quoted, I was talking about an srt8 that I beat, not the GTO. I have 10+psi left easy. I will be beating them. And, the SRT8 was not stock. In the owners words, "its got exhaust, intake, programmer, and a couple other goodies." He never did tell me what the others were. And, I cant find anywhere that they are listed as a 5.6l..... And I put as many cars on the SRT8 as I did the GTO.
But, thanks.

5.7 GTO is the slower one, the 6.1 is one that runs consistent low 13s with the right driver

nice job on running the goat down. I raced a 5.7 gto, they have 350hp, but weight a ton, around 3800 i believe thats 'dry' weight. I kept right next to the one i raced from a 25 roll. completely stock gto, i had

89 daytona CS 2900lbs (me and full tank)2.5, TII, garret, 40+s, 255walbro, TU 6 puc, 20psi, e85, running robs Turbonator cal.

So the car weights 2700lbs which is right subtracting me/gas. I tried to go off of those Horse power/qt mile time calculators but i know they are not accurate. I kept right next to him but he ended up missing 3rd and dropping back about half a car, pretty good race besides that, oh and i had the cals typical 'cutout' problem in 3rd but o well, it was a good race, now i need to race from a stop, and throw my radials on

Good kill! Just make sure your clutch is in better shape than mine when you do put the radials on! lol

Oh ya my clutch should have no problem holding, it held fine for the radials at the track.

I mentioned to the GTO owner that i wanted to race from a stop, he had previously rode in my car when i took off in 2nd and just spun the crap out of em(antilag and 2 step is awesome), he goes ha good you will just spin, i just reply with oh I got something for ya, obviously he doesnt catch on easily or hasnt heard i have the radials, but i did say "run what you brung(sp?)"

bah, c5 z06's are slow as hell and they still count as z06's!!!
not to mention we are high elevation so those cars run MUCH Slower here.

You wont find a c6 z06 running even close to 120mph stock here.
