I wrote cosworth. The head is still available from them for the price of 12,500 shipped. It was originally a head for a 2.3 ford, modified for a T2 bottom end. Not sure if that helps, the video clips look like a blown 3800.

I've got a crazy idea. I remember reading on a turbo Ford forum something about the DOHC Volvo heads being adaptable to the 2.0/2.3. So, if a Cosworth head for a 2.3 could fit on our bottom end, I wonder about that Volvo head? Hmmmm????

Also, you can still get the Ford Cosworth DOHC head used....you just have to find one. Expect to spend the same amount for one of those as a complete Masi head with manifolds.....

masi head with manifolds if you wanted you can get for about 1500-2K. i know because i have one and i could sell it if i wasnt going to use the motor. The guys are using the 16V volvo heads on the 2.3L Fords because it does mate, but a 2.3L ford turbo head does not mate with our 2.2Ls, totally different, my friend owns them and i've seen the 2.3L 16V cosworth head FORD Sierra that was available over seas because my friend's buddy in MD owns one. neat car.

OK...so how was the Cosworth head we are talking about modified from a Ford application to fit a 2.2? Was it even designed to fit the 2.3L or was it a different Ford 4-banger all together?

I've owned a 2.3L Turbo Ford...I never opened it up though. Good engine honestly. Sucked for fuel economy, hence I'm back to TD's!!

the head was modified to fit a 2.2L, doesnt mean it started out as a 2.3L FORD head, it was made off the design with changes to fit corectly, if you want to see if it bolts up grab an N/A 2.3L ford head and drop it on, i know its not the same otherwise what the hell, buy the volvo 16V head and go for power but have you ever looked at a volvo motor?. the pistons in the 2.3L are a bit larger, the valves are huge compared to ours and the head is even a bit larger if i remember correctly. probably why the price tag that you have up there is 12500$ and still available, unless it was ment to be 1250$.

I don't know where I got the idea it was a Cosworth Ford head either...I think that was speculation that got spread around. So, what Cosworth DOHC application did it really come from?!

I've worked on the particular type of DOHC Volvo engine they are swapping the heads from. It's an interesting design for sure. I kinda like it, and kinda don't, but it does work pretty darn well!

The SOHC 2.3L Ford head has a lot going for it, but it isn't without its faults either. Being iron is one. Not having enough support journals for the cam is another. We could go on and one comparing the two, but....

this thread is about the Wraith! So who cares! LOL

We are still working on the car. It's not quite ready for the road/track, but local Mopar friends were begging Lyle to bring it out to the meet last weekend. In the video you see the car in primer, he has the matching paint from the film and will be painting in the next couple of months. She should be done by fall.

For more information about the car you can drop me a note here or check out our site.

The price figure of $12,500, and the information that the head was sold to chrysler as a performance head for the Ford 2.3 are words directly from Cosworth. Check out their site, send them an email if you don't believe me. Its not top secret or anything.

I would love one of those. The only thing I would do different is stuff a built 2.4 with megasquirt in there and make 600hp. I would also find a way to adapt a srt caliber 6 speed tranny to it. That would be a hell of a car.
