The earthquake happened thousands of miles away, and there's no real warning for a wave of this type until you can see it. Tsunami's don't act like a wind-driven wave. It starts underwater and has a very long wavelength...so you can't really see it or get a warning until it's too friggin' late.
So what happens if there IS a warning? People then get caught in their vehicles and die all the same. Stinkin' aweful, but one of those things in life you just can't do much about.
What's worse than the actual wave and flood...is when the water pulls back out to sea. Then you get the water and debris (huge chunks) sweeping passed and destroying as is goes.
My wife cried when she saw this video...those 2 guys hanging onto the railing at that resort most certainly didn't make it alive.
