i have a few question about that 2.0 turbo engine.

I replaced hg not long ago, and im wondering if it would have been easier/faster to get the whole engine out of the car to do the job ?

Any trick to tighten the intake manifold to the head with the engine still in the car?? (suspecting a vacuum leak)

How to hook up a narrow air/fuel gauge (wich wire is what?) ?

Moved to the DSM section, will probably get a better answer that way.

On the 90-94 dsm there's a o2 senser wire on the paaenger side of the car right by the kick panel and you just tap into it. It's either white or gray and the vfaq with give you more details. I would just leave the motor in the car because I've seen my buddies do it all the time and it's almost as easy as a td head 30-35 mins

If your notch the powersteering bracket a little bit and remove the support bracket on the back of the intake manifold you'll be able to remove the whole top end of the motor without disconnecting the exhaust manifold or intake manifold. Removing the bracket behind the intake manifold cleans up all kinds of room out back there

Pulling the head isn't that bad at all. It takes way more time to pull the whole engine, easier yes, but more time consuming.

Narrow band o2 gauges are useless and stupid. Go wideband or don't bother.

Dsm af setup is fairly easy, and wayyyyyyy cheaper than switching to a wideband. THough I agree wideband is superior in every way but price. I went with the middle ground, egt gauge/ borrow someones wideband sometimes ;D

EGTs are pretty useless too. For the price of an EGT gauge and a narrowband gauge you can get a wideband, and actually tell what's happening. Ultimately a narrowband works the same way on every car, so saying the dsm af setup is easy is meaningless. The bottom line is chuck the narrowband gauge, and spend 180 on a wideband. Or even troll Ebay for a used one. They are nowhere near as expensive as they used to be, and there is no excuse not to have one if you're tuning. It's like trying to take someones temperature with your hand, you may be able to tell something isn't right, but you have no real idea.
