need one to run high boost calibrations. the map sensor tells the computer what boost the engine is seeing and how to compensate with fuel based on all the other inputs.

calibrations are designed around the map sensors readings, and 3-bar map sensors have different voltage output than 2-bar, same psi would register different voltages between the two map sensors. if you ran a 3-bar sensor on a stock cal, it would run like crap. so when you want to run high boost, you design the whole system for that purpose - injectors, calibration & map sensor, turbo/intake/exhaust should all be matched - if you want it to run right.
