I have a 05' SRT-4 that I bought for my wife new. We've owned it for three years this January with 19K miles on it. It has never been in for service (I do my own work anyway, would never let a dealer touch one of my SRT's). I've got the Stage 2 w/toys, Maddog STS, ATP Upper Pressure Pipe with Turbo XS Type-H BOV, Catless mid-pipe, Booger Bushings, Mopar Performance (MP) CAI. It runs mid 13's spinning the tires through 1st gear. The car handles like it is on rails.
I am 6'1" @190lbs and find the seats a little snug but comfortable. It is not a long trip vehicle though. On the rare occasion that I drive it, it feels like I am in a cockpit.
The 2.4L engine is one tough little bugger. You can make tons of HP pretty easily. Stage 3 will get you around 350 WHP. If you go the non-MP route, there are tons of upgrades to make serious HP. Stock low end is good to about 400 at the crank. Some have gone past that, but you are playing with fire if you don't upgrade the internals. My only complaint is the crappy crankcase evac system. You end up filling you intercooler with oil if you don't install a catch can of some kind in line with your PCV hose. I guess that in one of the problems of having a forced induction engine.
As far as boost goes, the boost varies according to air density. The Throttle Inlet Pressure Sensor (TIPS) regulates boost based on the inlet pressure. On cold days with denser air, you make less. On hot days with less dense air, you make more. My wife's SRT-4 will peak at 20 PSI and settle to 18PSI on the highest setting (3) with the Stage 2.
