You mean like my 7/70 warranty, 4 wheel abs, newly designed trans, airbags, three point belt in the rear. Better crash survivability for my kids. I took all this into account when I decided to get mine. Of course this slows down the GLHS's resto. But the math worked for me, maybe at 38, I'm taking a longer view

haha-safely. The guy who this debate is for is going to kill himself with or without all the safety things new cars have. This is also the first time ive heard safety and neon in the same sentence before. I'd want to be in my lebaron vs. a new neon anyday. One is a tank and the other seems like its falling apart everytime you go over a bump. BTW, does 6 grand for a 93 Daytona R/T with under 100,000 miles and a few mods seem ok?

Safety is a relative term. In a crash, I would prefer to ride it out in the wifes Blazer. In either the GLHS or the SRT-4, the point is that you have a much better chance of avoiding the crash in the first place. But I would say in an equivalent crash, the SRT-4 has a better odds for less injuries/more chance of survival.
Either has a better chance of staying out of the crash than the Lebaron. But we don't buy any of these cars for the safety, or we would all be driving tanks. We try for a balance. I know my 85 SC saved my ass at least once, where a lesser car would have rolled.

Isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black?

Personally, I think the Neon SRT-4 is ugly. It has a pretty cool drivetrain. I'd rather have a 1st gen. Neon R/T 2 door and convert it to turbo for way less money. If I was going to spend $20k on a turbo Dodge, I'd convert my Shelby Charger to rear wheel drive and drop in a 2.4 turbo mated to a 727 torqueflite.

with the Eibachs and the new shocks combined with Eagle RS-A's, the lebaron is the best cornering car I know. My talon may have been better, but the tires were aweful (Nittos). The lebaron makes my friends neon look like the economy car it is. Plus with 4 wheel discs with ABS, stopping is no issue either.

i see you havent been in many newwer cars then. There is alot of new cars that will out handle a lebaron. I should take you for a ride in my shadow when it is up and running, i'll have you slammed against the window with how hard it takes turns

Than the stock Lebaron, I should say. And as far as the econo car thing. I have not ridden in any Neon besides the SRT-4, so I can't speak to that. But I can say that I drove a Cavalier to the airport. Completely different than the SRT-4 as far as feel. THAT was true econobox!! Kevin, looks aside, this car feels like a GLHS when the boost comes on. With slightly less tourque steer. There's more power, but it's more isolated from you.

I don't dislike the SRT. I like it. I just think they messed up the nose. I'm not fond of the wing either. My dad's bare bones Neon is better looking. That said, if I were in the market for a brand new car, the SRT would be at the top of my list. Of course, I wouldn't make any brand new car my hot rod.

You name it, I've likely been in it. I know that the lebaron isn't and never could be and autoX champion. I'm just putting up defense for my baby. She doesn't do too bad for herself. Its fun to take turns at 45 mph with 4 people in it and not worry about it getting squirelly. I've been in a Viper GTS ACR with Skip Barber drivers at the helm. Wow. I don't think they did a turn without drift. I highly reccomend the experiance

You give me 18k and I'll either show you a road racing Conquest for SCCA or a single purpose drag car-

You just have to source out parts carefully and shop around-

Cool, but I'm talking about something street legal and a daily driver. Just had to be as fast and reliable as an SRT. Hes looking into a Daytona R/T in New Jersey (wtf? )I've got the Z, his g/f has an IROC, and hes looking at an R/T...combine that with my GTC and we have a club going on here.

I guess what this boils down to is- Do you want new, warranty, speed good starting platform? Go with the Srt-4

If you dont mind your hands dirty and really want something to be proud of- Go the resto-route and dump that money into a
2k car.

For the money you could build a MUCH faster street car than the srt-4 for sure-
