does the 2004 stage 1 consist of only a computer? also how much does the dealer charge for it? Im looking at putting on a BOV soon, is the Mopar one any good? any ideas on the prices on that? thanks

Stage 1 is only the computer since the 2004's already come with the larger injectors. The dealers charge something like $350.

I'm not sure about the Mopar BOV. I've heard a few people complain that it leaks. But who knows. I've got the Forge one, which fits right in the stock location so you don't need an adapter.

All bov's basically do the same thing, plus or minus the noise level, so if the bov in question vents pressure from your intake/plumbing between shifts, and doesn't leak under boost, i'd say its "good" . The mopar bov your wondering about, is just an adapter plate that allows your stock surge valve/bov to vent into the atmosphere rather than back through your intake. If an audible venting is what your looking for this will do it for about 60$, although quite a few people are not fans of the particular pitch or woosh.

It would be nearly impossible for the mopar adapter bov to leak for any other reason than improper install.

That's just what I heard. But I suppose if the Mopar light-weight car gets by with it .. then everyone else with only a few modifications can get by with it as well.

I personally love the sound of a good BOV. My Spirit R/T has a blitz super sound that sounds incredable. I want to get something that sounds good for my srt now. Thanks for the input guys.

My hearing sucks 91RedSpiritRT, but the mopar bov adapter sounds like my old talon bov to me . If its an incredible sound your looking for this propably isn't for you.

There is no "getting by" about it. The stock surge valve, with or without the adapter will not leak up to a relatively absurd point (where is glhs837 with the exact psi ). Also your level of mods has nothing to do with the bov's ability to work properly. The only exception being if you are running an aftermarket turbo in which case you have no place to mount the stock bov.

Oh it does indeed leak externally. Mine does anyway... how much? A minisucle amount. In my testing, it leaks less than the PCV valve does.

Where is it leaking from? The gasket?

Yup, between the plate and the compressor housing. Some guys have solved that issue by using RTV, but I don't like using RTV near my compressor. You may not hear the leak, see the leak, or feel the leak, until you spray soapy water on it at 15+psi.

I don't think using rtv on the gasket is a good idea either . I used cooper coat and all 3 bolts were torqued to 68in-lbs. Just for kicks i may do a leak test tonight.

The BOV conversion comes with the plate, a gasket and instructions. From my experience, the more I took apart, the easier it was to get to but it was still a pain. I like it though, so it was worth it to me. The ricers seem to like it too when I let off the gas and it goes "pssssssshh". (grins)
