It's there for a reason, and just because some guy in florida say's it's not a vital component doesn't make it so. So your left with getting stg 1 or up to solve your overboost code, the map clamp will help if you run into a overboost situation or you want to make sure you have lots of timing, with that comes the neccesity for more fuel hence the return system. Your most likely not going to be able to make the 260+ hp that you made on your first pull with a stock computer.
Stage0 and stage1 will both throw a code if you go over 18psi of boost at any time. When people run stage1 and an adjustable wastegate they actually remove all the vacuum lines that goto the selonoids.

With a return line, mapclamp, adjustable wastgate and rerouting you vacuum lines you can get over that HP as long as it is tuned right. Only diffrence that you get with stage1 over stage0 is more fuel when you are concerned about the HP #'s. By doing it this way you are taking the PCM out of the loop and controlling the fuel, boost and timing yourself. Like I said before though, you must have a way of measuring your AFR and have someone who knows what they are doing when they are tuning it for you. I will post dyno #'s of a stage0 car with this setup in a couple weeks, i would have done it today if I had gotten the clutch today like I was supposed to.

PS: We also had a stock turbo stage2 car hit 307whp and 371trq on the dyno today. It is one of the highest, if not the highest, stock turbo cars around.

My stage one car spikes to 19 and settles to 16 at redline on stage1 without an overboost code. EGT's are a hair shy of 1600 at redline, fuel return is on the car but not hooked up yet, waiting for a trip to the dyno and I've got a map clamp that I made a few years ago sitting on the shelf. I just don't find it wise to bypass the TIP sensor, yes the car's may seem to run ok, but it's there for a reason. When you clamp the map sensor you don't remove it from the loop entirely, you selectivley limit it's output. I would much rather use another clamp (that you can build for $5-7 from radio shack parts, the same as the dasmopar one) on the TIP sensor and just limit it's output on the high end rather than remove it entirely. As far as the PTB issue, I run a pseduo-dual stage setup that works rather well, computer controls the boost until it hits 11 lbs then it switches to 18-19. You now have low boost in first (good for those of us with traction probs) and part throttle driveability back, as well as a nice jump in gas mileage. When I switch from just a MBC to my current setup my MPG jumped from 22-23 to 25-26. Having the ability to pass someone without having to got WOT will do that for you.

On that note, I would like to discuss with you the results of your dyno tuning with a map clamp, what you found to be the best return as far as timingvsAFR, and what changed when you clamped higher or lower than that value, we can talk in here or feel free to PM me. Thanks.

It wouldn't let me edit my post, so I thought I would just repost them. For some reason, the picture links were broken in the post with them, originally.

Is it imput from the MAP sensor or TIP sensor that tells the computer to retard timing at higher boost?

Shay, how nuch boost were you making on your third run after you reset your computer?

It stayed the same from the second run, which is strange since we reset the ECU. It was about 13-15psi. And the first run was something like 17-18psi.

Shay, if you need a place to host pictures i have a free hosting service on the Glass City SRT's website that I built. www.gcsrts.com

TurboGLH, I don't know much about the #'s when tuning. We have a tuner in Toledo, that is awsome and he does all of our tuning an the streets late at night with auto tap and a wideband. I understand what he does but I don't know the #'s like he does. I just know what setups we used and what we have had success using.

Thanks for the offer!! But I host my pictures with photobucket. And I just realized that the reason the pictures were broken was because I had moved them into a different gallery!!
