O.K. I have seen these cars on the lots and on the roads. I really like them and the potential for power with a 16v head. For those of you that have one of these cars, let me hear your comments on the pro's and con's that you have encountered IE;

1.easy or hard to work on
2. parts availability
3. better or worse that the older turbo dodges'
4.would you buy another one or would you burn it

The reason why I am asking is that I am considering selling my cars and getting one myself.........Is it worth it????
thanks!!

1. Easy to work on: There seems to always be ONE bolt on my car that is IMPOSSIBLE to get off.

2. Parts: On the internet, they are readily available. Most of the Mopar Stage kits, there may be a wait. I know some kids waiting on Stage 2 right now. Not sure if that is just a DEALERSHIP problem, or everyone.

3. I have no idea. It is a new car though, so you always have warranty that you don't have with an old TD.

4. I'd buy another.

1) fairly easy to work on. Haven't modified mine.
Changing oil is easy.
2)many aftermarket suppliers
not to mention you can bolt on 380 hp with a stage 3
Mopar definatly makes more aftermarket parts for the SRT than they did
back in the day for TD's.
3)I imagine this is what it was like to drive a NEW GLH or Shelby Charger,
only it's a heck of alot faster
I think one of the things I like best are the Viper seats.
4)I wouldn't burn it. There are things that bother me.
Doesen't shift well cold. Just won't go into gear easy.
My car has 1700 miles on it though.
Factory BFG tires suck. Road noise is horrible + so is the tire shake.
Give me a set of all seasons any day.Contraption gave a 1 year review
on his car that sums it up.

well i would have to agree with both...just dont wreck it!! parts are very very $$$....but there fast and easy to add the hp, and shay from my understanding the stage 2 kits are on hold from mopar due to redoing or somthing with the map sensors....

Easy to work on yes, after you get used to it and learn the tricks...just like the old TD's. I still learn something every time I wrench on it.

The seats are nice, but they annoy me after a long trip. Definately a cool factor though.

Easy to get in the 12's. Not that expensive either. Just don't buy hype.

Aye...easy to work on.
Parts are plentiful.
Much, much faster then my old Shelby Datona...better handling etc etc.(altho, at least it had cruise control)
I'm a Dodge guy so this car was a no brainer. For the money there's no other car to buy, IMO.
STi or EVO8 are others I'd consider but in Can the STi is well over 50K and o EVO avilible. SRT8 would be another but still pricey.
I've got 26,000 KM's on it and have loved every minute.

1. Somewhere between L-body and P-body as far as working space under the hood. As was said, very easy to change the oil, which is all you're likely to need to do, unless you get into some serious modifications. Stage 2 was fairly easy to install, except for the toys wiring. Even then, the instructions are very detailed and good.

2. Generally more parts are available than for the old TDs. Some of the Mopar parts are popular enough that they often go on backorder.

3. Better in every way, IMO, having owned several old TDs (and still owning 2). The SRT-4 is as much better than an old TD as something like a Spirit R/T is better than an Omni GLHT.

4. Burn it? No, just burn rubber!
