We bent rods every time. Keep in mind I use bigger than average turbo's on all my projects so that it can make more power with less of a hit on the bottom end. The turbo used was a t3/t4 hybrid 54 trim with a stage 3 exhaust wheel in a .63 housing.

Andre' Parker Turbodave, you have the highest number I have seen. I have seen almost every turbo 1st gen around my area die after trying to hit 220 or so at the wheels. I think 250 at the crank is about as far as you can go with any chance of any longevity. .
If they use a small turbo and make full boost below 3000 yeah they will die quick! If a small turbo has to be used have a bling bling boost controller that does RPM based boost control and limit it that way. Keep the max boost onset above the torque peak and it will live a long life. Cylinder pressure is the killer here.

Turbodave, i was looking on your site and i didn't see any mention of what trans you are using? Stock neon, Stratus, or top secret? I assume its the stock trans if you're using the stock axles.

Very nice car, btw. I hope to have one of my own soon.
