3" is fine for a turbo. The only time an exhaust can hurt a car is if the pipe size is not big enough (performance-wise) or if a pipe is dangerously close to a brake line or any part of the frame (safety-wise).

Awesome deal on the restoration! I'll be putting my white Spirit R/T into the body shop in the next few months, too. Be sure to get us some pics when it's done!

Just be careful around the gas tank area with that "manly sized" exhaust. lol
I am wrapping mine with some heat shield in that area.

There is no drain. There is a boss for one. I had somebody drill and tap it and put a drain plug in mine.
I really like sycromesh in my trans. I just had it rebuilt and it works great!

Put a nice magnaflow muffler on there and it wont. I mean it wont with just strait pipe, because of the size of the motor it will NEVER sound like a honda, if thats what you are worried about. I had a co-wortker ask if I had a v8 in mine after he heard the exhaust and then I took him for a ride I was happy to tell him, nope, 2.2l big bad 135 cu. in. FTW!!
BTW pics please when your done!

I got syncromesh at my local autozone. I think its a gm product, or gm cars run it if that helps. You will love the magnaflow on your car, I know I do!

The actual "swingvalve" on a TIII turbo is structurally part of the turbine housing. They have a cast "elbow" that bolts onto that. That "elbow" is 2.5" approximatly. So,yes, your exhaust will be fine and should bolt right in.
