Charge piping is going to work out perfect till the bigger stuff gets here.

lol Yeah, its tight. But the motor is not even close to where it will sit. There is no trans hooked up and the front motor mount is undone. There is a jack supporting it from the bottom. It will have a bit more clearance than that.

his transmission sucks.
I popped my tranny on in 5 minutes friday night and then got stuck doing his trans that seems to want to stay divorced from the engine.

I HATE reinstalling trannies in these cars with the engine still in the car!! It's such a pain, especially on R/T's! It's always the diff cover vs. the K-frame...the k-frame usually wins. R/T's have an extra brace that REALLY makes things nice and difficult.
I'm open to tips for sure! I'm gonna have to drop my tranny again to redo the clutch(again), so if there's an easier way(besides a sawzall or torch LOL), I'm ears!
My van was no treat either...a few friends and myself tried for a couple of hours to get that thing in and lined up with no luck. The next morning I had it in myself in about 20 minutes using 2 floor jacks *shrug*. Sometimes you just gotta hold your tongue the right way! :P

I had to convince cory to let me remove the front mount and move the engine forward a few inches (I put the engine on the big jack, rolled it forward, then put a spare tire jack on to hold it in place). The 2.2 is definitely easy to move forward because its not so wide. The 3.0 hits the radiator when you do that (i ruined one accidentally so my new trans technique includes pulling the radiator (which only takes 2-3 minutes since you have to drain coolant on a 3.0 anyways). Things got easy after I did that but the dust sheild wasnt quite straight. I dont like a dust shield that is bolted down behind the bellhousing so you cant fix it after you find its not lined up right. 3.0 dust shield is held by the bolts for the tranny so you dont have to worry about alignment. Just move it around till all the bolts fit.
I used to think a 3.0 was a pain, but its so much easier then his R/T. I pop my trannies in with almost no work. Having a hoist helps though as you can swing the tranny around instead of grunting around trying to benchpress it with the help of a jack.

Yeah, I already remove the front engine mount and the bobble strut. I'm usually able to keep the struts and all in the car. It's just the d@mn K-frame. Every friggin time the K-frame and the rear diff cover just have this never ending conflict that takes a lot of pushing, shoving, lifting, grunting, cussing, ect. to get it right. I usually employ the help of two other people to get my trannies in...one on top, myself and another friend under it. I wish we could use a hoist, but there's no real easy way to do it. I have one, but it's in my yard and I don't have a hard surface to work on. My other friend has one, but it's in his back yard and there's no good way to get to it, or get it out of his back yard. LOL. We just need a stinkin lift!!

I wouldnt want to install a tranny on a lift.
Hoists rock.
I was able to get his tranny up where it needed to be quite easy after pulling the mount and moving the engine. No problems with the dif. His big turbo was actually a problem later on.
I did that because i was tired of dealing with the dif/kframe or the bobble strut bracket hitting the tabs on the K frame.
I also had to teach the "once the imput shaft sorta matches up with the disc, push on the trans end cover while moving the trans around trying to align it" trick :P I got tired of laying on my back benchpressing (with my small arms) so I had someone do that.
For those times when it doesn't want to slide in. You have to be sure the input shaft is hitting the right spot though or you are doing bad things then

Yup...already employing the "wiggle" trick. I STILL have issues with the K-frame and rear diff cover even with the bobble strut brakcet completely removed and the front mount completely removed! Somehow it ALWAYS wedges itself...EVERY time.

Yup. There's ALWAYS that involved! LOL That thing gets called everything under the sun and then some. Sometimes we come up with NEW swear words!! We found that being nice gets us nowhere. As long as the CAR understands that we are not directing our frustrations directly at it, everything's cool. If the car get's pissed, then NOBODY's happy!!
