Head casting #s?

I may have found a lotus head at a local yard. But he has it listed like this:
2.2 Liter 1989 - 91 DOHC 16 valve roller cam 2 pc. R/A cover Cast# 744 VIN# R
The years dont match up and an R in the vin means its a 3.3 or 3.0, cant remember. Is there a 744 casting number on the lotus heads? Thanks for any help!

If he's listed it as 89-91 and the VIN is R, he's talking about the Cosworth head on the TC Maserati's. On those cars, the engine code on the VIN was the 5th digit instead of the 8th since the car was made in Italy.

I know that's not what you're looking for, but if he doesn't want too much for it, it'd be a great buy!

Absolutely. In fact, call the guy back and see if he can get the VIN from the car. If the engine code R is indeed the 5th digit instead of the 8th and the 1st digit begins with Z, it's 100% a Cosworth head. That was the only 16 valve DOHC cylinder head made for Chrysler vehicles between 1989-1991.

Some TIII heads have casting numbers of 4442810 I have 3 of these cyl heads.
