I have a complete T-III engine I'm interested in installing in our 90 Sundance. The car is a 5-speed so I'm thinking about machining the bellhousing for the crank sensor and running the stock ECU. Does the fact that the car is a 90 T1 vehicle make the wiring conversion easier than the earlier years? Can I just add/remove things from the existing harness? Do I need to repin some of the original harness to make it work? Or would it be way easier to get the T-III harness and install it???

Lots-o-questions

Thanks

Change the coil plug and switch to a 91 TIII computer and you should be good to go.

Does it just plug into the bulkhead connector on the firewall and all is good or do I need to repin anything at the bulkhead connector?

i figured for someone who runs 11s in a mini, you'd know, lol. Just kidding.

I know my buddy in houston had gotten rid of his coil entirely on his spirit R/T and run a Dist off the cam. Cindy had him runnin with TrimCal and the thing was makin 427fwhp. You might call her and see what she says.

Use the 90 TI harness. All you have to do is install the ignition#2 wire in the 60 way connector and the charge temp feed wire. The rest is just lengthening and shortening wires to fit all the connectors. O,and you have to change the TPS plug to 91+ style. There are a few little things im sure I left out as well but we can go over them if you just want to use your factory harness. Get yourself a 91 TIII SBEC and you should be good to go. If you need me to walk you through it just send me a PM as I just converted a 90-91 TI harness to TIII and it worked perfectly

I also have a crank sensor drill jig if you want to use it to drill your stock tranny for the crank sensor

I think it has something to do with having the Fastest Turbo Dodge Minivan in the World....LOL!!!!

It's obviously NOT because of my vast knowledge of T-III related wiring

Thanks Jackson

I plan on freshening the engine before I install it so it will probably be in the spring unless things go better than I expect

I just wanted to start figuring out the best path so I can gather what I need.......I already have the original 91 T-III SBEC that came with the engine

No problem! Thats what im here for. I like to share everything I have been through and done to these cars.

If you got a complete engine and the SBEC then you are pretty set. Just get a hold of a crank sensor if you dont have one already. I can help you out when it comes time to do the harness conversion and if you need any advise on the motor build as well. LMK when you wanna do it

It would be great if you two could get together but you guys are half-way across the country from each other. Keep the discussion goin here, though, cuz I'm learning from it.
