Has Anyone had to modify their shift cable bracket to make room for a compressor housing? I am running into this right now and it is the last thing in the way of having the turbo installed. I am not sure what I can do here but it looks like I will have to make the cable come in at a slight angle and drop it down a little bit. Any input on what you have done would be great and pictures would be a plus!
Thanks,
Ryan

I already have that done. I needed to cut the rod, grind the nut down and shim the strut mount a half inch or so. It clears the strut now but not the shift linkage. Just curious if anyone has had to modify there shift linkage mount and how they did it.

First thought would be to bend down a little/at an angle like you mentioned, but that cable will no longer pull all the way to the passenger side.
Shift linkage is something youre not going to be able to work around. It has to be where its at. The angles can not be changed, they have to pull straight in the directions they are at. The only thing to do, is make it shorter.
This would mean making a custom bracket and get new custom cables made.
Or you can make a custom solenoid setup and mount it on the tranny to move the rod electronically.
back to reality/economical though..
Are you using the stock manifold? Moving to a different style like a dedicated header or TU's new cast header will relocate the turbo slightly to clear all the things.. They designed them this way.

I know someone has done it, I just can't remember who.
I may try and grind the compressor housing down a little but I doubt it will be enough. It looks like it needs to move a good half inch to an inch down.
I am using the stock manifold, this is on a Spirit R/T which uses a different manifold than a 8V.

Okay I looked it over a little bit just now to see what I could do. I am thinking I can turn this around...
And then weld up some more material and mount the cable closer to the trans.
How do I remove the selector though? It looked like screw in set pin at first but it is not, how can I remove this so I can turn it around?

Is that going to add some unnecessary tension in the cable? Ive had bad results moving the bracket points because it messes up the "throw" by kinking things at the bracket.

Not sure, I havn't done anything yet. If I want to use this turbo I am going to have to figure something out though. I wish I had a spare bracket to mess around with.
Does anyone know how to remove and flip the shift lever or selector circled in the first picture of my last post?

It's just a simple roll pin. Tap it out with a driver.

I am going to try making the shift cable come in lower first by opening up the current hole in the cable bracket. If that doesn't work I am going to try my second plan which is to punch the pin out, turn the selector around, and create a new mounting hole closer to the trans.
I am excited to see how well the T3 will react to this turbo, I predict it will haul ass.

Yeah, that's the plan. Although, if I find a good deal on a 50 trim I might swap it out. Once the snow and salt goes away I will have the car on the dyno to see what it will put down with the new computer, injectors, 3 bar map and 57 trim.
