I figure the .55 will be fun for now. Probably not a good idea to give me more power than that thing will make. Wallace and Jackson have told me stories. And I wasnt looking for an all out drag turbo. This thing spends ALOT of time on the street. Plus, that sucker is getting HOGGED out. So, hopefully that will help. If not, .70ar and an equal lenght header will be next.

Made it to the track for the first time with the R/T. Actually, first time to the track in over 5 years and first time with a FWD car - IT SHOWED Made 4 runs total. First run was horrible, burned the clutch and missed 2nd My tranny is on its way out. Ran a 16.680@95.74. Got progressively better each run but my car was running like sh** down the track, still pulling timing for KR and having boost issues! I will try to get these worked out this week and try it again. Last run was a 14.80@95.81 Runs were still at stock boost. I wanna run a 13.99 before I change anything. Here is the breakdown:
first run-----------------------last run
r/t...713----------------------.633
60ft..3.132-------------------2.319
330..8.110-------------------6.333
1/8...11.494@72.60---------9.633@74.13
1000..14.334----------------12.453
1/4...16.680@95.74---------14.800@95.81

Any idea what an R/T with 242whp should run on street tires?

I ran about 105-106 mph in my old red R/T on 23" slicks running the crap out of it and it dyno'd 262 whp the next day. I'd say you should be in the low 100's, which is definitely good for a 13.99. Get the boost and knock issues sorted out, then concentrate on getting the most out of it with driving practice.
Where did you run? Cecil?

One thing I should add...this was with about 18 psi, dropping to 13-14 or so by redline, so my torque curve was probably alot deeper than yours is at stock boost, even if peak hp is only 20 hp off. I still think you should be around 101-102 mph though.

Were those times with a stage III cal or diode and +20's?
I got another crank sensor from Cindy and put it on a couple of days ago. It was a PITA to get that Caravan sensor off, had to loosen up the intake manifold and lift it about an inch to pull it out. I could tell right away that it helped. The idle and entire rpm range was a lot smoother. I plan on doing some data logs sometime next week to see where i'm at. Hope to have my boost issues figured out by then too. I'm going to throw in some race gas, turn the boost to 14 and head back to the Dyno to try to break into the 260's whp.
Haven't been to Cecil yet, I ran her at Capitol Raceway in Crofton,MD, you been there? They have "test and tune" every Friday starting at 5. It's 20 to race, 10 to watch. I got there at 4:30 and was 4th in line to race. Got in 4 runs in about 15 minutes and then just watched. As far as my driving, IT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. You can see that my MPH was the nearly the same on all the runs but I was able to improve almost two seconds from the first to last run. Just gotta find that sweet spot between spinning and bogging. You should come to Capitol and show me how its done! I heard from two good sources(Cindy+Rick)that you could make a 14 second car run 12's. I wish I could make it to Mason Dixon Dragway but I'll be in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico on vacation.

My fathers R/T dynoed at 240 whp and his trap speed on the only run hes ever made in the car was about 101-102 mph. I think he actually had the car in reverse when the lights went green. Im not kidding! I think his 60 ft was like 3.5
If I recall correctly, my car at 255 whp trapped at something like 104 mph.
As youve found, ET for a given power level can vary widely, but barring ridiculous wheelspin/bad shifting, etc the mph is usually in a predictable range for a given power output.

Yes! I think ole Patric has the record for a stock turbo R/T (both ET and mph).

You shouldnt need race gas for that setup......so save your $!
I would make sure the car is running perfectly and all the crank sensor issues are 100% before you try and run it harder.
If you make some data logs, youll know whats up. If all is well, you should be able to run about 13 psi boost on 93 octane gas through a wide open exhaust and have the car rip pretty good.
Honestly, out of all the TD's Ive had, I think the most fun car was my last R/T when I had it in mostly stock form with just a 3" exhaust and about 13 psi boost. It really was a blast to drive in that form. Sure, it was not the fastest thing on the street, but it was a great compromise.

Yeah, I'm not running it any harder until I get the bugs out. As soon as I get back from Vacation I will. As far as the race gas, If I am still getting KR when I do my data logs with the new sensor, i will throw some in there and see if that takes it away. I would like to centerline my cams too.
Thanks for the advice guys! Like I said, this was my first time at the track with a FWD car so, I did bad. I'm use to my rwd Rotaries I only made 4 passes but the good thing was that I improved every go. +the car was not running right so I stopped.

That was +20's, stock cal, stock turbo, 2.5" exhaust and a big intercooler on my car.
Haven't been to Capital. I heard that it was a zoo on Friday nights and that it was difficult to get more than a couple of runs in. Maybe I'll give it a try this year. I used to run at 75/80 regularly until they closed a couple of years ago.
I can make a 14 second car run 12's? That's either a compliment to my driving or a knock on the beauties I've run 12's in! That's nice of them to say. Not sure it's true, but I'll take the compliment.
Larry! Glad to see you out here. Drop me an email sometime let me know how the family is doing.
Pat
