^damn thats cool!
The only customer cars I test drive are my dads customers with 98 contours and that such so there is no real point in hoppin in it and beating on it cause its just a slow POS anyways!
Though when my dads GLHS was in the shop he gave the keys to our mechanic and proceeded to roll the tires throught first and take off!
It was a good excercise and I was in the passenger seat. We walk in and my dad goes I used to be able to burn the tires better then that, time for some plugs and proceeds to call Oreilly's. Now in the case of my dads charger and roadrunner the mechanics won't touch those! They will move it in and out of the bay and thats it!

I tried to get an alignment done on my LeBaron one time. It has an auto with a manual valve body in it. I even had the service writer put on the ticket to contact me when they were ready to test drive it. I never got a call, but when I cam back to pic it up thery were like..."I think we blew it up." I asked why they thought that and they procedded to explain to me that it never shifted gears! I asked if they'd read the ticket and they told me yes. I thne proceeded to tell them that there was no WAy they had read the ticket becuase they would have called me and it explained how to drive the car! They were so baffled by the fact that they had to move the shift lever in an automatic car! I couldn't beleive it! At any rate, it wasn't blown up, they just never shifted it out of 1st! Dumb@sses!

lmao thats hilarious! My allignment people down the street are very nice to my cars. They are good people and know that my dad is 6'5'' 300 and will beat the living shit outa them.
The old owners scumbag kid came onto our property once and he was banned when we bought the yard. He came in and my dad proceeded to beat the hell outa him (for reasons that are special in this case). Everybody knows that story and nobody messes with him... So my cars are well taken care of =)

My alignment guy is cool. He used to race a Daytona just like mine years ago. so he fell in love with mine when I brought it to him. Told me if I ever needed a head for it to come to him. He has a few laying aroud his shop still.

I took my spirit R/T into the shop for new tires and an alignment once. I went in and paid for it and went to drive away and had no gears. I checked and sure enough the clip holding the shifter cable on was gone. I was pretty pissed, and the worst part is that they tried to tell me that it was a preexisting condition, Like I drove it there with no gears. The next time I needed tires I just brought the wheels. To bad I can't do alignments.

hmm... to whomever it was that said something about the cars ability to "take it." It's absolutely irrelevant as to the vehicles mechanical ability to withstand abuse. If you are being paid to perform work on somebody else's PROPERTY it isn't YOUR right to make the decision to drive it in an abusive manner. It's an ethical matter regarding someone else's property. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should and you sure the hell don't have the right to. I got a car back from the dealer with a rod knock because of idiot inexperienced techs who obviously have no business around cars. You pay someone to do a job and they beat the shit out of your property..wtf? Does anyone else see a problem here? Put some money on the table for your own dice bud, don't roll somebody else's.

Only way I know to get a rod knock is to run low on oil... unless the tech forgot to put the drain plug back in the oil pan...

If you over-rev a t-2 converted t-1 that's old.. you will spin a bearing.

I've gotten a rod knock on an engine that was running absolutly fine before it started. There was enough oil in it too. I still, to this day, have NO clue as to why it started knocking....

I will say that detonation CAN beat the living crap out of not only the pistons and rings, but the rod and crank bearings as well. If the engine was having a LOT of knock and the piston or ring didn't let go first...eventually the bearing WILL.

Well my car was bone stock, low miles, original and never beaten on. Parts and mechanical failures DO happen but there is NO excuse for it to have happened there. I got to eat the cost of the motor as well. My only point being watch out for your property because people are not trustworthy when it comes to rare performance cars.

You guys are scaring the crap outa me, I have to take mine in for alignment soon. I had a friend help me replace wheel barrings, CV axles, Tie rod ends, and soon I'm replacing ball joints and struts. I will need an alignment then, I think I will sit at the shop and wait while they do it!
