Ok, I bought Craig's car and it is now sitting in my garage.

First thing I need to do is check the tires and get an alignment. It drifts pretty good to the left. Any suggestions on a place in Northern NJ I can go to?

And soon after I will start personalizing it. So, what do I do first? For example, with my PT cruiser I was told I must start with a Stage 1 upgrade and move on from there. So what is the #1 mod I must do before I do anything else?

Thanks...

i get my alignment at any place that does them. alignment specs are the same on all daytonas in 92-93, just had mine done locally for 60$. i would check the tie rods in and out and the ball joints before you spend on it because they can cause poor alignment and even after youll have to do it and get it aligned again

First thing would be to get all the maintenance done. After that an exhaust wouldnt be a bad idea.

Thanks Tom. I'll have them check those parts.

The car has a 2.5" exhaust on it. That should suffice for now, correct?

Here is what I was greeted with this morning after removing the valley cover:
The first pic is inverted, so the #3 plug is on the left.

Here is a pic straight down with the #3 plug on the right.

Looks like you have a new first order of business. Sounds like you weren't excepting that, were you not told? Also, that is the first thing you check when buying a TIII car(little late now). The pics are a little blurry, is that a weld I see by the crack? Did it crack, get fixed and crack again? Also, the core plugs are way to tight, that probably why it cracked - they are tightened flush with the head! Off to LONEWOLFPERFORMANCE. Welcome to TIII..........this could get expensive. Good Luck!

Yes I was told about the TIII head. I was told by the seller that the head was NOT cracked. When I went to inspect the car I noticed what I thought might be a crack but it also looked like it had been welded once before as you stated.

I still purchased the car because Ralph told me it's not the end of the world. How many guys here have junked their cars because of a cracked head? I know I'm for an expense.

My main concern now is can this be put off or do I need to take care of it right away?

is it leaking(i couldn't tell)? If not, then theres nothing wrong. If yes, than do it the right way and fix it. At least don't put any performance parts on the motor. If it leaks just a little and you want to fix some other things first(ie, alignment,shocks,tie-rods,etc)than have at it. But, as soon as you start increasing the perfomance, you increase the stress on the motor and that head/crack.

IMHO, if your, "up for an exspense", take off the head and have it fixed(if it is leaking only). This would be a good time to get some head studs,TI retainers, INA lifter, etc.

good luck with that fix. it does need to be done. you can check it by cleaning it up and putting dye in the antifreeze and see where it comes out again using the dye. it happens, its a common problem. this is why i sorta told you to be careful about spending a lot on a TIII from the start. i would not have a local place weld it. now you are looking at a disassembly, a weld job, a new HG, new Headbolts or Arp depending, new timing belt, etc and thats just a few things. Lonewolf can weld it and i trust his work, he is in kansas and on this board (mopar2ya). you sorta need to get it there and the TIII head weighs about 60lbs. if you want any info or help give me a buzz 201-873-3140 might be able to help you if you wna stop by since you are local

I figured if I'm going to take the head off of it I might as well rebuild it.
Is it worth going for something from FWDPerformance or just having this head rebuilt?

I found the same exact issue when I first bought my spirit R/T. I sent my head to Lonewolf Performance and had him weld it up. He does quality work I would definitely recommend it. If you have the money now you might as well have him do the cams as well.

The MAP sensor on my car has the following part#: 5234972.

I found an internet listing and confirmed that it is the stock sensor. Is it 2 BAR or 3 BAR?
