With the stock calibration is there a certain speed level over which the fan will not turn on? Around town the car heats up to the 2nd line and then the fan kicks on and it immediately cools down. However while on the highway it seems to reach the 2nd line and then continues to heat up as if the fan is not switching on. I still need to get that air dam but I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this.

It just tells the fan when to come on and off. Its a computer program. You can also get a external temp switch to have the fan come on and off when you want it to. They are like 50-60 for a real good set up.

My Spirit was missing the air dam. Here are pics of the air dam I got when I used the part number from the TSB. This is a dealer part.

I like this on my Td's. 100_0592
S10 Airdam pics

Hugely important. I have a shelbyZ with a cummins, fog lights in the air vents, a/c, and a T2 rad. No issues with cooling even with a 195 degree t-stat. Also helps with downforce. Make sure the air can't get around things. Use whatever you can to force the air through all the heat exchangers. I have the underside of the nose sealed off on the Z, and factory rubber pieces on the sides of the i/c and the bumper seals off the top. After that the air is forced through the a/c condesor and then through the T2 rad. The spot where the factory i/c sat is blocked off by a T304 SS sheet.

It's TSB 24-03-91, under Air Conditioning, "Poor Performance at Lower Speeds". It was issued in June of 1991. I don't have access to the Chrysler system anymore so you'll have to go to a dealer and have them look it up.

The bad news is that the part is most likely NS1 (cancelled), but somtimes a dealer locate will turn something up. If the part can't be had, a custom air dam may have to be made. A roll of lawn edging works well and doesn't look too bad.
