Thanks Pepster! That was my hunch but I wasn't sure. If the sensor is bad then why would the car still start and run for a few minutes? Still new enough at this that that still makes no sense to me.

We have problems with Jeeps that just shut off while driving intermittently and it is usually the crank sensor, intermittent's are tough.
Any scan tool will provide powertrain data, you do not need the Chrysler DRB, there is no way to test the Cam/Crank sensors out of the vehicle that I am aware of.
You need the code description for code 54. On the T1, T2, T4 it is the fuel sync side of the HEP which on your DIS system I would think is the Cam sensor but both sensors are grouped together in the "No Reference Signal". Only a scan tool will give you the description.
I remember the GM sequential MPFI would run if the Cam sensor circuit had a failure while the car was running, they would not restart once the car was shut off if the fault still existed.
Once we know which circuit is creating the problem we can narrow down diagnostics.
Chryslers diagnostics for No Reference Signal are 18 pages long and there are 4 pages of diagnostics to even determine which system is at fault before getting to that point, all require the use of a scan tool.
As far as I know Autozone will use thier scanner to retrieve codes for you if the check engine lamp is on, so I have been told. I do not know if they rent scan tools.
I guess I am lucky working at a dealership, I have access to all of Chryslers scanners and my Son owns a Snap-On scanner.
You may want to be sure you have not set any false codes during your diagnostic process.
As far as Chryslers first step, there should be no signal from either sensor without the engine cranking and that is what they want checked first once you have determined no faults are present.
With your engine running do a wiggle test on the Cam/Crank sensors and connectors/wiring in an attempt to duplicate the condition.
