lately my R/T has been blowing smoke pretty bad when i'm at a stop in neutral. But that as soon as i take off it will stop. It has kind of a blueish tint to it so it looks like oil to me but i'm not sure bc it also smells rich?? So I'm not sure what it could be...could it be my turbo or is it my piston rings?? opinions greatly appreciated. Thanks Everyone

I had my shelby do this to me not to long ago.... Sounds like the turbo. Mine was so bad you could make the turbine wheel touch the housing.

That's the way my 85 Laser acted.Rebuilt the engine -thought it was valve seals.when i got it apart it was apparent the engine had been rebuilt recently. To make a long story short put it back together-new parts-still smoked bad at idle.Bought a turbo cartridge and it fixed it.

you can get that turbo off without pulling the head so at least you are lucky in that respect. Kelly G can get his off in about an 1hr i was told with the stocker on it.

If tis smoking all the time its a indication its rings, if it doesn it when you slow down using "engine braking", it indicates valve guide/seal wear. the higher vaccum pulls oil past he guides/seal and burns it, as you are driving you reduce vac and the problem appears to go away. Ifit does it all the time it can be both or a turbo problem.

The worn rings will show up in a compression test. If its low and you dump in a cap of engin oil in the cylinder and the compression jumps noticeably then its bad rings.

Sounds just like the bad turbo on my shelby. When you drive, its fine. As soon as you come to a stop. James bond smokescreen

smoke is oil, steam is h.g. Is the oil or coolant contaminated?

no it doesn't look to be actually. i removed my oil return line to see if iut was collapsed and that looked good. Then i removed the hoses off of the turbo to check for shaft play and there is very little wiggle side to side and the same up and down. I guess its possible that its the turbo seals?
