16V T3 pistons should do the trick nicely. That is what I am going with.

Hey Akuma please don't take this the wrong way I don't mean to offend, but I can understand how you are willing to spend $300 dollars on forged pistons. You said in another post that you were a System Administrator-you are probably rolling in money. LOL! I am as well (a System Admin that is), only I do it for the US Air Force so lets just say that I have to use cast pistons for now!
Hey you get free housing, you should have plenty of cash.

I am not rolling in money, not yet that is.

I find it odd how much money people are spending on these 16V hybrids. I am working on one myself and I will have less than $1000 into it when it is up and running. That is including everything, up to injectors and a cal. I have a usable turbo that I will upgrade later, but still I won't hit the $2000 mark.
It's *all* about how well built the bottom end is. You can sink 2500$ into the shortblock alone.

Also, it depends on the head. You can buy a well used head for supe cheap, but Id rather find a new head, or a barely used head and pay more for it.

The turbo can also be very expensive if you go wit a hybrid.

Then you have to consider a trans/clutch/axle combo that can HANDLE the power.

Everything adds up.

How much of the work is everyone doing themselves? Are you (those spending more than $2000) paying a machine shop for a lot of the work?
Seems to me everyone is doing the work themselves.

450hp - direct from the mouth of Shawn Carlson and the rest of the Mopar Neon racing crew. They probably have more race miles and have the most knowledge of this engine than anyone else.

Maybe they were mis-informed????

Whatever you say.

Have you ever seen one of those rods?

I guess that means T2 rods can handle 600hp eh?

Draw your own conclusions.

New Info.

FM is now stocking forged pistons that are designed specifially for hybrid Neon/2.2 motors.

Looks like Ill go with those instead of T3 pistons.

Are they only stocking pistons for the 2.2 with the conversion?
Well if not I've been looking for a reason to buy a set of aluminum rods! Guess I better start looking for a crank for this bad boy.

Does anyone know if they have any plans for a 2.5 piston?

The pistons are usually 2.5 style.

2.5 style pistons in a CB block with a 2.2 crank alllows for a longer rod.

The alum rod is 6.1" length which increases the rod ratio to 1.72

I assume the PT turbo rod from the GT Cruiser s the same and I cant find an SRT-4 one at the moment.

Here is a pic of a PT turbo rod next to a T2 rod.

http://www.bstockum.com/allrods.jpg

The second one is a T2 rod and the 4th one is a GT Cruiser 2.4 turbo rod.

After all that work for a 16v you should want forged pistons

Now if you are getting forged pistons you might as well get 16v forged pistons because the price is the same.

Yes, they are expensive but people need to learn to build things right *the first time*.

On that note, as soon I get my L-body dissassembled and gone and my Masi stuff sold Ill be starting my prototype 16V Hybrid 2.2.

I am going to do something a little different though.

MMMMM what masi stuff?
