Ok, so I'll start with some background. Bought my RT in early march and haven't drove it a whole lot. Previous owner put a 3" cat-less exh on it. I could only get about 7-8 psi out of it with what sounds like a boost leak. On Sat, a buddy and I blew the lower intercooler hose off. No big deal, when we put it back on it seemed by the dirt on the outlet that the hose was not previously pushed all the way onto the outlet neck. So, we put it on as far as we could and clamped it down. On the test drive, I quickly pegged the boost gauge. I now have to pedal the car under hard acceleration to avoid overboost shutdown. I also do not hear the obvious boost leak that was present prior to blowing the hose off.

My questions about this are as follows:

1. Is is normal with 3" to experience overboosing?

2. Is it likely that the previous owner had the same issue and left the lower intercooler hose "loose" for driveablity.

3. I have a crack around my center core plug, will running with this increased boost make this worse?

4. Will occasional hard boost pulls harm the engine? I kinda like the extra boost.

Just turn the wastegate to back the boost down. Making it longer for less boost. Mine had a little lock/tag on it. Break that off and you should be able to turn it.

Don't know if they all had adjustables or not but my 92 did.

drive it around for a bit first... the computer has to "re-learn" the new wastegate controls so you don't overboost.

My brother's Spit RT with a 2.5" catless exhaust runs 13psi, they say 13psi with a 3" is good for 250Whp... id drive it before i turn the boost down by adjusting the wastegate actuator arm
