I thought about naming this thread "I Think I'm In Over My Head". :big grin: I promised myself that I wouldn't fool with my new Spirit R/T until the Shelby Charger was done. Well curiosity has gotten the best of me.

I've attached a picture with a few parts that I've lettered. Here is a list of the parts that I can identify. Correct me if I've misidentified some. I don't know which cam sprocket is intake or exhaust.
A-Balance Shafts
B-Cam Sprocket
C-Cam Sprocket
D
E
F
G
H-AC Bracket
I-Coil Pack
J-PCV
K
L
M
N
O
P
Q-Crank Pulley

Does the intake manifold look pretty complete? The fuel rail, injectors, wiring, etc. are in the trunk.

Cylinder head. The core plugs are steel. I assume there are aluminum ones available. Rockers, shafts, etc. are in the trunk.

What does the infamous crank sensor look like? I think all the parts are here. I may have to pay someone to fly to Nashville to help me put this car together. :big grin:

Hey Kevin...good to meet you at SDAC!

I just finished assembling my R/T, so I might be able to help some. I had a hard time making out what some of the smaller parts are in the pics, but this is what I can tell.

A-Balance Shafts
B-Cam Sprocket
C-Cam Sprocket
D Idler pulley
E tensioner pulley (D and E could be reversed..can't tell from pic)
F compressor to bracket mounting bolt
G compressor to bracket mounting b olt
H-AC Bracket
I-Coil Pack
J-PCV
K
L thermostat housing
M
N
O
P
Q-Crank Pulley
R oil pressure sending unit
S water redirector (hard to tell from pic)
T
U
V
W
X
Y-Broken Oil Pump

If you post up more detailed closeups of some of the parts, I probably could help further.

Pat, you are the guy that has the GLHS with the "original paint", right? :big grin: That's a good running car. It was nice meeting you and talking to you.

AFTER I get my '85 SC completed, I'll start on the R/T. When I get serious about the R/T, I'll take a picture of each part and send it to some R/T people for help. I have a Haynes Manual and that's about it. I'm thinking about purchasing a service manual from Mopar. This car may be easier to assemble than I think, but it sure looks scary right now. Of course, my 1985 Shelby Charger's engine looked scary the first time I popped the hood. :big grin:

Also, I tried to join the R/T Mailing List. I'm waiting for approval from the list owner. How long does that take? I've got questions to ask. :big grin:

I'm guessing "P" is a rocker shaft bolt. It has a washer and a little curved "spacer" that looks like it would fit the shaft.

Cam sensor has a gray plug, the crank sensor has a black plug.

Looks like you have most of the parts. Seem to be missing the air fliter box and bracket...

PS: I'd build it back w/o the balance shafts.

I haven't finished going through all the parts yet. The airbox is there and I suppose the bracket is too. I have tons of nuts and bolts in a bucket that I don't know what they go to. I have never understood how a person can take something apart and throw all the fasteners in a bucket. I have a system I follow when I take things apart. I always thread the nut/bolt back on a part if I can. If not, I put the fasteners in a bag and tape that bag to the part. I feel like I'm never going to get this car back together. I'm thinking about flying a 16 valve expert into Nashville when I get ready to assemble this car.

The sad thing is I have two disassembled cars. I wish I had more garage space so I could lay the parts out. I have my two Chargers, my friend's '65 Mercury Comet, and my '98 SS/T in my 3 car garage that I'm trying to rebuild my Shelby Charger in.

The balance shafts are going in the trash.

Here's a close up of the intake rockers on my engine. This may help identify some valvetrain parts.
