I've been lurking around the 16v section on and off. I read a thread that says the masi head is a bolt on. would this apply to a 2.5 block also? would there be a potential prob w/ the pistons hitting the valves? Is this head reliable or would it be better to go the neon head for that? Are parts hard to find? Sorry for all the questions but I'll be building a motor for my rampage this year and am toying with the idea of a 16v head. Thanks, +++++

Yes the Maserati head is a bolt on to any 2.2/2.5 block. There isn't a problem of the valves hitting the pistons, provided you have the Maserati pistons which have the valve reliefs cut into them. From what I have heard, the head is extremely reliable as is the entire engine assembly. Parts are hard to find, especially the manifolds. Unless you can find a complete motor or have access to a fabrication shop, I'd look for a different 16V solution.

I believe what you say. A jy quoted me 7500.00 for an engine and tranny. I'll be looking at a complete car for 6k this weekend.

WHAT!?

I guess that price would be ok if they were both *brand new*.

I got a complete 16V TC engine from a JY for 800$. (minus tranny)

Of course, that will never happen again!

What you are suggesting is actually the best route. The TC prices are dropping. Find a low mileage 16V and just steal the entire motor. Swap in a stock T1/T2 and resell it to recover 50% of your money.

Any Masi questions can be directed to myself or GLH_TC.

Masi parts are very hard to find, and realize that if you ever break the masi tranbs, you cant get parts for it at all. However, the 555/568 bolts right up.

Also there are no Posi units for the 284, but it *is* stronger than even the 568.

What a joke! When the gal said 7500 I said you mean 750? She said no. I told her I could get a complete running tc for 6000.

She said she would relay that info to the jy. Later she called back and said he offered to lower the price---to 6000! LOL oh yea that did not include shipping!!! Thanks for the offer of help I'm sure I'll be needing it. Chris
