Hi all. I have a question for everyone. There is a guy that im talking to that has a charger for sale. He doesnt know much about TD's so it's kinda unclear what kind of car he has for sale. Here is what i know about it, and it doesnt seem to add up to me!

It's an 86 Model Year Charger
The valve cover (or what he says is the valve cover) says 16 valve one it
It has a broken 525 tranny on it.
He claims that it is original engine
He also said that when he got it smogged that the people said that they didnt have his engine in the computers, so he went to the dodge dealer and they said that it was a rare engine and that the vin's matched so the motor is not a swap....

What do you guys make of this?? i thought that the only motor that came in the 86 charger was the T1, but this guy says it's a 16v???

Im going to go see the car soon, what should i look for to determine what it is?? i know how to tell apart the T1, T2 and the 16v T3.

Thanks!

It sounds like a typical BS story to me, but it can't hurt to check it out. You never know. If the car has a 16 valve engine in it, original or not, it would still be pretty darn cool.

Also, turbo 2 engines came in Chargers too. GLHS.

If you find one of those two engines in that old Charger... you'll be promoted to the title of "Turbo Dodge Legend"

Good luck!

haha must be that time of the year for 16v Chargers... a guy just randomly walked into my yard yesterday and starting telling me about his Turbo Charger... yeah he went too go get the block heater changed and his mechanic told him it didn't have one cause it was a Cali car, and that it was a car that Shelby did up... Did I mention he said it was burgandy and silver... and that it had a "Stage III turbo" the same one they use on the Gm turbo trucks... and that it was DOHC i just looked at him like he was the biggest moron ever:big grin:
